This senior leadership role is responsible for defining and executing the strategy that ensures field teams are fully prepared, highly skilled, and consistently effective across all stages of a product launch and ongoing commercialization. You will translate commercial and brand strategy into structured training programs that elevate sales capability, drive field excellence, and maximize performance outcomes. Operating in a fast-paced, launch-focused environment, you will build scalable onboarding, training, and continuous development frameworks that strengthen both individual and team effectiveness. This role requires a balance of strategic vision and hands-on execution, with direct impact on commercial success in complex therapeutic markets. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional partners across Marketing, Medical Affairs, and Compliance to ensure alignment and readiness. In addition, you will use field insights and performance data to continuously refine training programs and optimize execution. This is a highly visible role for a builder who thrives in shaping field capability from the ground up.
Accountabilities:- Develop and own the end-to-end sales training and field effectiveness strategy aligned with launch milestones and broader commercial objectives.
- Define a comprehensive field capability framework covering disease knowledge, product expertise, selling skills, account management, and compliant execution.
- Lead sales force onboarding, certification, and launch readiness programs to ensure full field preparedness at product launch.
- Design and execute training programs, POA meetings, workshops, and continuous reinforcement initiatives to sustain performance.
- Build ongoing learning curricula to support continuous improvement in sales effectiveness and field leadership capabilities.
- Partner with Sales Leadership and Commercial Analytics to identify performance gaps, skill needs, and execution opportunities.
- Translate field insights and performance data into targeted training interventions and enablement strategies.
- Ensure alignment across Marketing, Medical Affairs, and Compliance to maintain accurate, consistent, and approved field-facing content.
- Establish performance metrics and governance frameworks to measure training impact and optimize field effectiveness.
- Oversee external training vendors and learning partners to ensure high-quality execution and scalability.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in pharmaceutical or biotech commercial roles, with strong exposure to sales training or commercial effectiveness.
- Proven experience leading product launches and building field readiness programs in complex therapeutic areas.
- Background in cardiovascular and/or chronic care markets is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of pharmaceutical compliance, including MLR review processes and field-facing content standards.
- Experience designing and delivering scalable training programs using blended learning approaches (live, virtual, digital, field-based).
- Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS) and CRM-enabled training tools such as Veeva is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence senior stakeholders in matrixed environments.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to connect performance data to actionable training strategies.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and leadership skills with a strong builder mindset and high accountability.
