As the Senior Director, Patient Safety Strategy and Business Excellence you will work across the Patient Safety team and with Head of Patient Safety and the Patient Safety Leadership team to drive transformation initiatives incorporating portfolio, operational and people priorities. The Senior Director drives the establishment and delivery of strategic priorities, key capabilities to achieve corporate and department goals. Leads strategic planning to establish priorities, set targets and implementation of initiatives collaborating across the organization, driving thought leadership and strengthening alignment across teams. Serve as trusted partner to drive strategy and strengthen alignment, collaboration, and communication across functions. Collaborate with Business Leader’s direct reports to aid in strategic planning, execution of key initiatives and cultivation of talent throughout the organization.
Role Responsibilities:
Manages strategic planning processes to support Key Capability progression and associated goal development
Collaborates with leaders to oversee execution of key initiatives including transformational Device Safety initiatives
Drives Project Management Leadership
Champions thought leadership
Supports business process excellence, driving process evolutions and associated change management activities
Integrates technical / functional expertise with business / commercial knowledge through participation and coordination across cross-functional groups.
Directs the resolution of highly complex or unusual business problems by applying advanced analytical thought and judgment.
Coaches other leaders in resolving problems and setting strategy.
Influences the direction, compliance and Gilead's license to operate with implications across our therapeutic areas and Development organization overall.
Provides critical oversight, review and approvals of a broad spectrum of drug safety activities, including providing critical direction and guidance to a broad range of cross-functional projects and committees.Â
Routinely provides input into and influences cross-functional Patient Safety and other Development strategies.

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree and Fourteen Years’ Experience
OR
Masters' Degree and Twelve Years’ Experience
OR
PhD and Twelve Years’ Experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Recognized as a leader and SME.
Extensive experience leading cross-functional activities across a broad spectrum of drug safety / PV or related strategies, programs, projects and other activities.
Proven ability to make significant contributions to Patient Safety strategic planning and lead significant process improvements in Patient Safety.
 Extensive leadership experience and proven effectiveness, whether through direct people leadership or matrix leadership.
Strong track record of cultivating and maintaining strategic relationships and collaborations both internally and externally
Expert-level of knowledge of the biopharma industry, as evidenced by proven track
record in setting short- and long-range business strategies and plans.
Demonstrated ability to effectively hire, manage, develop and retain diverse top talent, as evidenced through past experiences and effectiveness mentoring and developing less experienced team members.Â

Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.
