This is a senior leadership role focused on driving strategic growth within the U.S. Government space sector. The position is responsible for shaping and executing long-term business development strategy across defense, space, and intelligence markets, with direct impact on mission-critical programs. It combines high-level strategic planning with hands-on capture execution, requiring deep engagement with government stakeholders and industry partners. The role plays a key part in building a scalable and repeatable revenue engine, moving opportunities from early shaping through contract award. You will collaborate closely with product and engineering teams to align capabilities with evolving mission needs. This is a high-visibility position where success directly influences market positioning and long-term organizational growth in the national security ecosystem.
Accountabilities:- Own and execute the U.S. Government business development strategy across key agencies including DoD, USSF, SDA, and the Intelligence Community.
- Lead end-to-end capture efforts for high-value opportunities, from early opportunity shaping through proposal, negotiation, and award.
- Develop and maintain a strong pipeline of qualified opportunities, ensuring disciplined forecasting and prioritization.
- Influence acquisition strategies and requirements development prior to formal RFP release to improve win probability.
- Build and manage strategic partnerships with prime contractors, subcontractors, and ecosystem stakeholders.
- Establish repeatable capture frameworks, business development processes, and scalable pipeline management practices.
- Translate government mission needs into product and roadmap feedback in close collaboration with product and engineering teams.
- Represent the organization in senior-level engagements with government stakeholders, acquisition leaders, and mission owners.
- Support pricing, packaging, and go-to-market strategy for government-facing offerings.
- Build and mentor a high-performing business development and capture team as the function scales.
Requirements:
- 10+ years of experience in business development, capture management, or growth roles within U.S. Government or defense-related sectors.
- Proven track record of winning complex, large-scale government programs (50M+), including OTAs, IDIQs, BAAs, or equivalent contract vehicles.
- Deep understanding of DoD, USSF, SDA, and/or Intelligence Community acquisition environments and procurement processes.
- Demonstrated ability to shape opportunities pre-RFP and influence program direction at senior government levels.
- Strong executive network across government stakeholders, program offices, and acquisition leadership.
- Experience working with both prime contractors and emerging technology or SaaS providers in defense ecosystems.
- Strong strategic thinking and ability to translate market signals into actionable growth plans.
- Proven leadership in building teams, scaling processes, and developing structured pipeline discipline.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills at the executive level.
- Active TS/SCI clearance required and eligibility under U.S. export control regulations.
