Title: Senior Director, Employee Experience

Organization: WorkMoney, Inc.

Reporting to: Chief Administrative Officer

Location: United States / Remote, <10% travel

Term: Permanent, Full-Time, Exempt, requires U.S. work authorization

Compensation: Starting annual salary range of $165,000 - $185,000 

Deadline: Target start July 2025

Why do we need a Sr. Director of Employee Experience?

WorkMoney is a young, vibrant, growing organization. As we grow, we are investing in the internal infrastructure needed to foster a productive and supported workforce over the long-term. We are looking for a Sr. Director of Employee Experience to build new wellbeing, talent development, and educational programming and infrastructure. We are a fast-paced start-up and are looking for an experienced professional who can effectively manage competing demands, collaborate to achieve results and independently lead with confidence and integrity. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is hungry to build and cultivate a best-in-class employee experience to foster a thriving and supported staff community.

A typical day in the life of our Sr. Director of Employee Experience could look like:

  • Learning & Development
    • In partnership with our CAO, envision, build and manage learning and development programming that aligns with organizational and personnel needs. This will include creating a comprehensive curriculum that employees can participate in throughout the employee lifecycle and collaborating with leaders across the organization to craft impactful courses. 
    • Develop and implement strategies to incorporate learning and development into staff engagements, to include team meetings, all hands meetings, lunch and learns, and retreats.
    • In partnership with the people operations team, manage the performance review and development plan process, providing education and guidance to people managers on best practices.
    • Co-develop mechanisms to track and report on the efficacy of learning and development strategies and make adjustments as needed. 
  • Justice & Belonging (JustBe)
    • Develop and implement plans to operationalize JustBe throughout the organization including embedding equity into all parts of the employee experience life cycle. 
    • Launch organizational educational initiatives and engagements on JustBE, including cultural competency trainings for a variety of audiences and the creation of affinity groups.
    • Lead the employee wellbeing workgroup meetings and serve as a strategic thought partner to the group as they select JustBe and employee wellbeing educational content, initiatives, and programming.
    • Develop mechanisms to track and report on the efficacy of our transformation strategies and make adjustments as needed. 
  • Organizational Culture
    • Develop and implement strategies to ensure a people-centric high-performing organizational culture and community.
    • Build authentic and enduring relationships with staff throughout the organization and act as a “go to” person for staff questions and concerns regarding professional development.
  • Employee Engagement
    • Conceptualize and execute fun monthly employee engagement activities to promote cross-functional team building and a people-centric work environment.
    • Cultivate opportunities to celebrate and honor our multicultural workforce. This will include hosting heritage month activities and composing monthly cultural celebration newsletters to educate the team on the relevant holidays and events.
    • Lead the logistics and planning for the organization’s annual all staff retreat, including team building activities. 
    • Design employee engagement surveys and mechanisms to track and report on results. Develop and implement strategies to address highlighted organizational challenges.
    • Facilitate labor management committee meetings, actively participate as a committee member, and support the resolution of issues bargaining unit members may raise.
  • Team Management
    • Recruit, hire, and manage employee experience staff.
    • Provide coaching and support to team members around professional development, JustBE, and employee engagement.
  • Partnership with People Operations (secondary responsibility)
    • When needed provide support for People Operations including facilitating employee onboarding, developing organizational communications, and managing the people operations tech stack (e.g. Workable, Lattice, PEO).

Requirements

Essential Qualifications:

  • Mission & Values Alignment. You are inspired by the WorkMoney mission and are passionate about advancing economic fairness and opportunity.
  • Learning & Development Experience and Skills. You bring knowledge about effective adult learning strategies and have experience developing and managing learning and developing programming within an organizational context. You understand how learning and development should be incorporated into the employment lifecycle, from onboarding to offboarding. You can operate at the strategic and operational level, both developing learning and development strategies and designing and leading trainings, workshops and other learning experiences.
  • Operationalizing Equity. You have experience developing change management strategies and operationalizing equity throughout an institution. You can demonstrate a track record of successfully deepening the skills and practices of individuals and teams. You have a track record of building and maintaining a positive, equitable organizational culture in a dynamic environment and coaching and mentoring teams and staff on equity skills and practice.
  • Strategic Thinking & Judgment. You have experience working effectively in ambiguous, fast–paced, highly dynamic environments. You use strong strategic and analytical thinking skills to identify and address root causes and improve opaque organizational systems and processes. 
  • Project Management & Organizational Skills. You have the skills required to naturally and effectively translate concepts into actionable plans and ensure clear communication of goals, responsibilities, and deadlines.
  • Communication & Relationship Building. You have a demonstrated track record of building relationships that support individual and collective ability to grow, thrive, and work effectively together. You have a history of developing high-trust relationships across position and identity. You have experience designing and facilitating inclusive and impactful staff engagements, modeling openness, direct communication, and active listening skills.

The starting salary range for this role is $165,000-$185,000 annually and as part of our commitment to pay transparency and equity in our organization, the salary for this position is not negotiable.
