Senior DevOps Engineer (Remote - US)

In this role, you will drive the evolution of infrastructure, automation, and operational excellence for complex, high-scale systems. You will lead initiatives that ensure system reliability, security, and performance while implementing automation to reduce manual workloads. The ideal candidate combines deep Linux and cloud expertise with a strong DevOps mindset, emphasizing CI/CD, monitoring, and zero-touch provisioning. You will mentor team members, influence technical strategy, and collaborate across engineering and operations teams. This role offers the chance to shape infrastructure practices, implement innovative solutions, and contribute to the continuous improvement of global systems in a high-trust, security-focused environment.

Accountabilities

·        Implement infrastructure automation, monitoring, and reliability practices to ensure high service availability.

·        Perform forensic system administration and troubleshoot complex Linux environments.

·        Champion secure automation, hardened Linux administration, and DevOps best practices including CI/CD and infrastructure as code.

·        Lead release management, incident management, and capacity planning initiatives to maintain operational readiness.

·        Develop dashboards and visualization tools for faster triage and improved system observability.

·        Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of learning, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

·        Research, prototype, and implement new cloud, virtualization, and hardware technologies.

·        Participate in on-call rotations and maintain system documentation and standard operating procedures.

Requirements

·        Strong Linux systems administration skills with deep understanding of hardware interactions (CPU, memory, disk, networking).

·        Advanced scripting and automation proficiency using Ansible, Bash, Python, Packer, and Terraform.

·        Hands-on experience with AWS services (EC2, IAM, VPC) and cloud provisioning tools.

·        Experience with large-scale system management, monitoring, and custom observability dashboards.

·        Solid networking knowledge within Linux environments; BGP and DNS experience is a plus.

·        Passion for operational excellence, security, and performance.

·        Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional technical teams.

·        Self-motivated and eager to learn new technologies.

Nice to have:

·        Experience with network observability tools (Kentik, Splunk).

·        Familiarity with modern CI/CD pipelines.

·        API design and development experience with RESTful best practices.

·        Knowledge of release management in large-scale environments.
