This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of Hypergiant. We are currently looking for a Senior Data Engineer in United States.

In this role, you will join agile delivery teams working on highly complex defense projects, with a particular focus on building advanced data services for command and control software. You will design and implement scalable data pipelines, optimize database performance, and ensure secure and efficient data flows across multiple systems. The position requires strong expertise in modern data engineering, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with mission-critical impact. Accountabilities:

  • Contribute to the design, development, and deployment of scalable data services supporting defense-focused software projects.
  • Implement and optimize database technologies, messaging systems, and spatial/time-series data solutions.
  • Build ETL pipelines and ensure efficient parsing, transformation, and integration of diverse data sources.
  • Apply advanced data modeling and performance optimization techniques, including indexing, partitioning, and parallelization.
  • Leverage tools such as Apache Kafka for publish-subscribe data service architectures.
  • Collaborate within agile teams, using version control systems and modern development workflows.
  • Ensure compliance with security standards and maintain eligibility for U.S. national security clearance.
  • Engage in continuous learning to adopt emerging technologies relevant to data engineering and defense systems.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of professional data engineering or software development experience (reduced requirements with advanced degrees).
  • Strong programming skills in Python, with familiarity in Java and Bash scripting.
  • Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, PostGIS, Timescale, DuckDB, and related database technologies.
  • Proficiency in XML, JSON, and data serialization formats.
  • Solid knowledge of ETL architecture, data modeling, and optimization strategies.
  • Experience in distributed data service architectures, especially Kafka.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and automation tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Security Clearance.
  • Preferred: experience with streaming data, radar/telemetry processing, geospatial information systems, military data standards, cybersecurity controls, and AI/ML applications.
