We are seeking an entrepreneurial and highly proactive Senior Data Engineer to design, develop, and scale our overall data infrastructure while ensuring strong data privacy and ease of use. In this role, you will consolidate diverse data streams—from raw input and processed insights to user engagement and performance metrics—into a unified, secure platform that empowers advanced data modeling, analysis, and predictive capabilities.

Your work will be pivotal in enabling seamless collaboration across our global teams and in unlocking the value hidden in our complex data landscape. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product, hardware, and software, to align data strategies with business objectives, ensuring that our infrastructure supports both current needs and future innovations.

WHO SHOULD APPLY

The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer with deep experience in data infrastructure, analytics, and data security, coupled with the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with teams across borders. If you have a strong track record in building data solutions that empower decision making and prioritize both data privacy and usability, this role is for you.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Data Infrastructure Development:

  • Architect, design, and implement a scalable data platform that integrates multiple data streams including raw recordings, transcriptions, summaries, user behavior, revenue, and hardware telemetry.

  • Ensure the data pipeline meets high standards for security, performance, and usability.

Data Modeling and Analysis:

  • Develop data models to support in-depth analysis, reporting, and predictive analytics.

  • Build and optimize ETL processes for efficient data processing and integration.

Privacy and Security:

  • Implement robust data governance and privacy protocols compliant with international standards.

  • Regularly audit data processes to ensure secure handling and storage of sensitive information.

Cross-functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with software engineers, product managers, hardware teams, and international stakeholders to align data initiatives with company goals.

  • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration with global teams in the US, Asia, and beyond.

Innovation and Scalability:

  • Research new data engineering technologies and methodologies that can be integrated into our existing infrastructure.

  • Develop automation tools and dashboards to enhance data accessibility and insight generation.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

Technical Expertise:

  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, or a related field.

  • Proven experience building and scaling complex data infrastructures in high-growth or startup environments.

Skills and Tools:

  • Strong proficiency with SQL/NoSQL databases, data warehousing, and data lakes.

  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and relevant data pipeline technologies (e.g., Apache Spark, Airflow, etc.).

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala.

Data Privacy Focus:

  • Extensive knowledge of data privacy laws and industry best practices.

  • Ability to design systems that protect sensitive user data while maintaining performance and usability.

Analytical & Strategic Thinker:

  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the capacity to transform business requirements into robust data solutions.

  • Strong quantitative abilities and a data-driven approach to decision-making.

Global Collaboration:

  • Effective communication skills and experience working with diverse, international teams.

  • Ability to clearly articulate data strategies and technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Educational Background:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field.

GREAT TO HAVE

  • Experience with machine learning pipelines, data visualization tools, and advanced analytics.

  • Prior background in sectors such as AI, IoT, consumer electronics, or enterprise software.

  • Familiarity with real-time data processing and streaming technologies.

  • A proactive mindset with a passion for building innovative, secure, and user-friendly data solutions.

WHAT WE OFFER

  • Founding Team: Opportunity to be part of the founding team and have ownership and impact on a startup rocketship.

  • Competitive Compensation: $170K-$220K base salary and performance bonus.

  • Employee Friendly Equity: Equity for all full-time employees and early exercise of options offered.
