This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Corporate Counsel based in United States.

This Senior Corporate Counsel role sits at the center of a fast-growing utility-scale energy storage business, supporting the full lifecycle of complex battery energy storage system (BESS) projects across major U.S. power markets.
You will act as a key legal advisor embedded within development, commercial, project, and finance teams, helping structure and execute high-value transactions that enable grid-scale infrastructure.
The role spans everything from early-stage development and permitting through financing, construction, and long-term operations.
You will negotiate and draft critical commercial agreements that underpin project bankability and long-term revenue generation.
The position offers high exposure to strategic decision-making in a rapidly evolving clean energy sector.
It is a hands-on, commercially oriented legal role where legal guidance directly shapes project execution and portfolio growth.
You will work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with significant autonomy and cross-functional interaction.

Accountabilities:
  • Provide end-to-end legal support across the full lifecycle of utility-scale BESS projects, including development, site control, permitting, interconnection, procurement, financing, construction, and operational handoff, ensuring legal risk is identified and managed at every stage.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of complex commercial agreements including site control, EPC, equipment supply, O&M, LTSA, interconnection, asset management, consulting, and other project-related contracts.
  • Support commercial structuring and negotiation of revenue arrangements such as PPAs, tolling agreements, capacity and energy services contracts, and other offtake structures, ensuring alignment with project bankability requirements.
  • Advise on regulatory, procurement, trade, supply chain, and compliance matters affecting large-scale energy storage projects, translating legal complexity into actionable business guidance.
  • Manage legal aspects of transactions including project acquisitions, divestitures, financings, and preferred equity investments, while coordinating closely with external counsel and internal stakeholders.
  • Monitor evolving market and regulatory developments in energy storage and ISO/RTO markets and proactively translate insights into strategic legal guidance for business teams.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of legal experience in a law firm, in-house legal department, or government agency, with significant exposure to energy infrastructure, power markets, or large-scale project development.
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school and active bar membership in good standing (preferably CA, NY, or TX).
  • Strong experience negotiating and drafting complex energy project agreements, including offtake, PPA, tolling, and capacity arrangements, with a strong understanding of risk allocation and project finance considerations.
  • Deep familiarity with utility-scale energy project development topics such as permitting, environmental review, land use, interconnection, procurement, and ISO/RTO market structures.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate in complex, fast-moving commercial environments with strong judgment, analytical thinking, and a solutions-oriented mindset.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to advise executives and cross-functional teams in a clear and practical manner.
  • Comfortable leveraging legal technology and modern contract tools, including AI-assisted platforms, with sound judgment regarding responsible use.
  • Collaborative and adaptable working style, with the ability to manage competing priorities and contribute effectively in cross-functional teams.

Benefits:

  • Competitive base salary of approximately $220,000 with eligibility for up to 30% bonus based on performance.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with 6% employer match.
  • Comprehensive health coverage including medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Monthly cell phone stipend.
  • Generous time off including 20 vacation days, 5 sick days, and 9 paid holidays.
  • Fully remote work model within the continental United States, with occasional travel to offices, project sites, or meetings as required.
  • Opportunity to work on large-scale, high-impact clean energy infrastructure projects in a rapidly growing sector.
