Position Description


Advanced Energy United seeks a smart, innovative, and highly motivated Senior Accountant II to join our finance team. The Senior Accountant II will work with the finance, fundraising, and policy/advocacy teams to streamline the financial process and reporting. They will also closely track our philanthropic revenue and assist with the end of month close processes. 

 

The ideal candidate for this role is a detail-oriented, proactive, problem-solver with a strong understanding of accounting principles. Success in this role requires strong communication skills, prior non-profit financial reporting and a collaborative approach to teamwork, with the ability to think both analytically and strategically.  






Responsibilities 


Philanthropic Revenue: 

  • Review new grant agreements for proper accounting treatment 
  • Maintain relevant grant information in applicable software applications 
  • Closely monitor grant spending, balances, and restrictions 
  • Coordinate with fundraising team on status of grants and payment 


Serve as the finance team's point person for Vena financial planning and analysis software:

  • Maintain existing templates and reports, including net asset release for United’s three entities 
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and Vena consultants to implement functionality previously identified  
  • Identify and implement additional use cases for Vena 


End of Month:

  • Calculate and make allocation & inter-entity journal entries
  • Track and reconcile investment accounts 
  • Maintain lease schedule and journal entries 
  • Calculate restricted and unrestricted net assets 
  • Provide financial analysis and projections 





Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting and CPA is a plus
  • 5-7 years of experience with at least 2 years in a senior accountant role 
  • Public accounting experience at a large firm strongly preferred 
  • Strong technical accounting skills  
  • Experience with non-profit accounting (multiple entities preferred but not required) 
  • Proficiency with financial applications such as Vena and Intacct (Sage) highly desirable 
  • Tech-savvy, a fast learner, and comfortable independently mastering new applications and tools 
  • Highly resourceful, proactive, and a problem-solver 
  • Can work independently with minimal supervision  
  • Intellectual curiosity with a continuous improvement mindset 
  • Long-term growth mindset
  • Ability to balance detail orientation with big-picture thinking 
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills 
  • Demonstrates a strong entrepreneurial mindset and excels in fast-paced environments 
  • Can effectively manage and prioritize multiple projects 
  • Interest in the clean energy industry is desirable

Job type: Full-time; regular  

Location: REMOTE; residence in the U.S. required 

Salary: starting at $80,000 

Start Date: September 2025
