The Senior Accountant will independently research and resolve routine and moderately complex accounting issues and escalate significant or unusual matters to the Controller.</p><p><strong>Essential Duties and Responsibilities:</strong></p><ul><li><strong>General Accounting & Month-End Close</strong><ul><li>Perform and coordinate assigned month-end close activities.</li><li>Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, prepaids, and recurring accounting entries.</li><li>Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations.</li><li>Review general ledger activity for accuracy, completeness, and unusual balances.</li><li>Research and resolve accounting discrepancies.</li><li>Support preparation of monthly financial reporting.</li><li>Maintain complete and audit-ready accounting documentation.</li></ul></li><li><strong>Accounts Payable</strong><ul><li>Review approved program-related vendor invoices following Program Control and Program Manager approval.</li><li>Post approved program-related vendor invoices in Unanet.</li><li>Review non-program/corporate AP activity as assigned.</li><li>Review AP aging and assist with resolution of aged or unusual balances.</li><li>Review AP payment batches for accuracy and completeness.</li><li>Assist with vendor reconciliation and accounting exceptions.</li></ul></li><li><strong>Accounts Receivable</strong><ul><li>Review AR aging and customer invoice activity.</li><li>Review billing exceptions and unusual customer balances.</li><li>Assist with resolution of overdue or disputed invoices.</li><li>Review AR and cash reconciliations as assigned.</li></ul></li><li><strong>Payroll</strong><ul><li>Review payroll preparation and related accounting activity.</li><li>Review payroll registers and payroll-to-general-ledger reconciliations.</li><li>Review timesheet adjustments and payroll corrections.</li><li>Research payroll accounting discrepancies.</li><li>Support payroll registrations and related accounting matters as needed.</li><li>Prepare payroll information for Controller review.</li></ul></li><li><strong>Audit & Compliance Support</strong><ul><li>Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for DCAA, financial, and other audits.</li><li>Assemble transaction-level support for audit samples.</li><li>Assist the Controller with audit requests and follow-up.</li><li>Support preparation of schedules related to the Incurred Cost Submission and indirect rates.</li><li>Maintain organized supporting documentation for audit and compliance activities.</li></ul></li><li><strong>Accounting Support & Process Improvement</strong><ul><li>Assist Staff Accountant and other Finance team members with accounting questions as needed.</li><li>Review accounting work as assigned.</li><li>Serve as a knowledgeable Unanet accounting resource.</li><li>Maintain accounting procedures and process documentation.</li><li>Identify opportunities to improve accounting efficiency and accuracy.</li><li>Independently resolve routine and moderately complex accounting matters and escalate significant exceptions to the Controller.</li></ul></li></ul><p><strong>Required Skills, Qualifications and Experience:</strong></p><ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.</li><li>5+ years of progressive accounting experience.</li><li>Federal government contracting accounting experience.</li><li>Strong hands-on Unanet ERP experience (required).</li><li>Experience with month-end close and balance sheet reconciliations.</li><li>Strong general ledger, AP, AR, payroll accounting, and account analysis experience.</li><li>Working knowledge of GAAP and government contracting accounting requirements.</li><li>Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to independently research and resolve accounting issues.</li><li>Strong Excel skills.</li><li>Ability to manage multiple priorities and recurring deadlines with limited supervision in a remote environment.</li></ul><p><strong>Preferred Qualifications:</strong></p><ul><li>Familiarity with FAR and DCAA requirements.</li><li>Experience supporting DCAA or financial statement audits.</li><li>Familiarity with indirect rates and Incurred Cost Submissions.</li><li>Experience with FFP, T&M, and cost-reimbursable contracts.</li><li>Government billing experience, including WAWF.</li><li>Experience assisting or mentoring junior accounting staff.</li><li>Experience with multi-state payroll.</li></ul><p><strong>Work Environment and Physical Demand: </strong></p><ul><li>Prolonged periods of sitting and working at computer.</li><li>This is a remote position; however, occasional travel may be required to support work-related meetings, events, or other business needs.</li></ul><p>The projected salary range for this position is $105,000+ annually.
