Position Overview
As a Secondary Teacher in Science for Indiana Online Learning Academy (INDOLA), you will play a pivotal role in delivering an enriching and comprehensive education to secondary students. You will collaborate with our team of educators, utilize state-of-the-art virtual teaching tools, and engage with students to create a dynamic and effective learning experience. Our teachers use cutting-edge technology, combined with outstanding experience in the education industry, to deliver high-quality learning opportunities to students.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver dynamic and interactive virtual lessons that align with the Science curriculum for secondary students.
- Create engaging instructional materials, such as multimedia presentations, videos, and online activities, to facilitate meaningful learning experiences.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment where students feel motivated, supported, and encouraged to participate actively.
- Utilize innovative teaching strategies and technology tools to enhance student engagement and understanding of concepts in Science.
- Assess student progress regularly through formative and summative assessments and provide timely and constructive feedback.
- Collaborate with the Assessment Services team to support in-person seasonal testing procedures with students across various locations in Indiana (required for all teachers).
- Monitor and track student performance, identify areas of improvement, and develop individualized learning plans when necessary.
- Communicate regularly with students, parents, and school administrators to address any concerns or challenges and maintain open lines of communication.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop and align instructional units, assessments, and interdisciplinary projects.
- Stay up to date with the latest trends, resources, and best practices in various subjects in elective education and incorporate them into instruction.
- Create an online classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students;
- Manage behavior under the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook;
- Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
- Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with parents, students, colleagues, and community members;
- Comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers;
- Attend and participate in faculty meetings, peer learning communities, and committees as required by your direct supervisor.

Knowledge, Skills & Attributes
- Previous experience in virtual teaching or online education is a plus.
- Proficient in using virtual teaching platforms and technology tools.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Dedication to student success and a passion for teaching.
- Ability to adapt to a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends.
- Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive learning environment.
- Student teaching approved internship or related work experience;
- Experience using a student information system and/or another type of database;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills;
- Proven proficiency in Zoom, Google Workspace, PEIMS, LMS, Microsoft Office
Education & Certification Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in Education or similar field is required;
- A master's degree is preferred but not required;
- Valid Indiana teaching certification for the subject area and grade level.
- Willingness to obtain within 6 months of hire (if not obtained before hire).
