Overview
Stellar Virtual seeks a highly motivated and certified Secondary Math Teacher to join our team. This remote position will be responsible for delivering engaging and effective math instruction to students in grades 6-12 through our virtual learning platform. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of mathematics concepts, excellent communication and technology skills, and a passion for fostering a positive and supportive online learning environment. The teacher will be responsible for curriculum implementation, assessment, providing individualized support, and collaborating with students, parents, and colleagues to ensure student success.
Essential Duties
- One Number: 80% Student Participation
- Deliver engaging and interactive live virtual lessons aligned with the Tennessee State Standards for Mathematics for grades 6-12.
- Utilize a variety of online teaching methodologies, resources, and technologies to cater to diverse learning styles and needs.
- Develop and deliver asynchronous learning activities, including interactive assignments, projects, and discussions.
- Provide clear and timely feedback on student work to promote understanding and growth.
- Facilitate small group instruction and provide individualized support to students as needed.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student attendance, grades, and progress.
- Implement the Stellar Virtual mathematics curriculum effectively and adapt instruction to meet individual student needs.
- Develop and administer formative and summative assessments to monitor student learning and inform instruction.
- Analyze student data to identify learning gaps and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
- Collaborate with curriculum specialists and other teachers to enhance the mathematics curriculum.
- Maintain regular and effective communication with students and parents regarding academic progress, assignments, and concerns.
- Support on-site testing events periodically throughout the year (required).
- Respond promptly to student and parent inquiries via email, phone, and virtual meetings.
- Participate in virtual professional development opportunities and collaborate with colleagues on best practices in online education.
- Work collaboratively with student support services, such as counselors and special education staff, to address student needs.
- Attend virtual staff meetings and contribute to the overall success of the Stellar Virtual program.
Knowledge, Skills & Attributes
- Minimum of two (2) years of successful teaching experience, preferably in a secondary setting.
- Experience teaching a range of secondary mathematics courses (e.g., Pre-Algebra, Algebra I & II, Geometry, Trigonometry, Calculus, Statistics).
- Demonstrated experience in utilizing online learning platforms and educational technology tools.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a virtual environment.
- Passion for working with students and fostering their academic growth.
- Residency in the state of Tennessee is required.
Education & Certification Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a related field is required.
- A valid Tennessee teaching license with an endorsement in Secondary Mathematics (grades 6-12) or equivalent is required.

This means the employee and Stellar Virtual can terminate the employment at any time, with or without cause or notice, as legally permitted.
