Overview
Stellar Virtual seeks a highly motivated and certified Secondary English Teacher to join our team. This remote position will be responsible for delivering engaging and effective English Language Arts instruction to students in grades 6-12 through our virtual learning platform. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of the English language, literature, composition, and communication skills, excellent communication and technology skills, and a passion for fostering a positive and supportive online learning environment. Responsibilities include curriculum implementation, assessment, individualized support, and collaboration to ensure student success.
Essential Duties
- One Number: 80% Student Participation
- Deliver engaging and interactive live virtual lessons aligned with the Tennessee State Standards for English Language Arts for grades 6-12.
- Utilize a variety of online teaching methodologies, resources, and technologies to cater to diverse learning styles and needs.
- Develop and deliver asynchronous learning activities, including interactive assignments, projects, discussions, and writing prompts.
- Provide clear and timely feedback on student work to promote understanding and growth in reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills.
- Facilitate small group instruction and provide individualized support to students as needed.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student attendance, grades, and progress.
- Implement the Stellar Virtual English Language Arts curriculum effectively and adapt instruction to meet individual student needs.
- Develop and administer formative and summative assessments to monitor student learning and inform instruction in areas such as reading comprehension, literary analysis, grammar, mechanics, and composition.
- Analyze student data to identify learning gaps and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
- Collaborate with curriculum specialists and other teachers to enhance the English Language Arts curriculum.
- Support on-site testing events periodically throughout the year (required).
- Participate in virtual professional development and collaborate with colleagues on online teaching best practices.
- Work collaboratively with student support services (e.g., counselors, special education) to address student needs.
- Attend virtual staff meetings and contribute to the overall success of Stellar Virtual.
Knowledge, Skills & Attributes
- Minimum of two (2) years of successful teaching experience, preferably in a secondary setting.
- Experience teaching a range of secondary English Language Arts courses (e.g., English 6-12, Literature, Composition, Grammar).
- Demonstrated experience in utilizing online learning platforms and educational technology tools.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a virtual environment.
- Passion for working with students and fostering their academic growth in language and literacy.
- Residency in the state of Tennessee is required.
Education & Certification Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in English, English Education, Literature, or a related field.
- A valid Tennessee teaching license with an endorsement in Secondary English Language Arts (grades 6-12) or equivalent.
