Overview
Stellar Virtual seeks a passionate and certified Secondary World Languages Teacher to join our team. This remote position will be responsible for delivering engaging and effective instruction in one or more world languages (e.g., Spanish, French, German, etc.) to students in grades 6-12 through our virtual learning platform. The ideal candidate will possess strong language proficiency, excellent communication and technology skills, and a passion for fostering a positive and supportive online learning environment that promotes cultural understanding and communicative competence. Responsibilities include curriculum implementation, assessment, individualized support, and collaboration to ensure student success.
Essential Duties
- One Number: 80% Student Participation
- Deliver engaging and interactive live virtual lessons aligned with the Tennessee State Standards for the relevant elective (Art or Music) for grades 6-12.
- Utilize a variety of online teaching methodologies, resources, and technologies to cater to diverse learning styles and artistic/musical interests.
- Develop and deliver asynchronous learning activities, including creative projects, performances (where applicable), critiques, discussions, and explorations of art history/music theory.
- Provide clear and timely feedback on student work to promote understanding, skill development, and creative expression.
- Facilitate individual and small group instruction and provide individualized support to students as needed.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student attendance, grades, and progress.
- Implement the Stellar Virtual elective curriculum effectively and adapt instruction to meet individual student needs and skill levels.
- Develop and administer formative and summative assessments to monitor student learning, artistic/musical growth, and understanding of concepts.
- Analyze student data to identify learning gaps and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
- Collaborate with curriculum specialists and other teachers to enhance the elective curriculum.
- Support on-site testing events periodically throughout the year (required).
- Participate in virtual professional development and collaborate with colleagues on online teaching best practices.
- Work collaboratively with student support services (e.g., counselors, special education) to address student needs.
- Attend virtual staff meetings and contribute to the overall success of Stellar Virtual.
Knowledge, Skills & Attributes
- Minimum of two (2) years of successful teaching experience, preferably in a secondary setting.
- Demonstrated experience in teaching a range of secondary-level Art or Music courses.
- Experience in utilizing online learning platforms and educational technology tools relevant to Art or Music instruction.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a virtual environment.
- Passion for working with students and fostering their artistic or musical growth and appreciation.
- Residency in the state of Tennessee is required.
Education & Certification Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, Music Education, Music Performance, or a related field.
- A valid Tennessee teaching license with an endorsement in the relevant elective area (Art K-12 or Music K-12) or equivalent.
