This role sits at the intersection of science, strategy, and medical communications, shaping high-impact educational content for leading pharmaceutical and biotech clients. You will be responsible for driving scientific excellence across oncology-focused medical education programs while ensuring commercial relevance and clarity for diverse healthcare audiences. The role blends strategic advisory responsibilities with hands-on content oversight and execution leadership. You will also mentor junior scientific talent and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including writers, strategists, and account leads. This is a remote-friendly position with the option to work from Stamford, CT, offering both autonomy and strong team connectivity.


Accountabilities

In this role, you will lead the development, oversight, and strategic alignment of scientific content across assigned accounts, ensuring accuracy, relevance, and alignment with client brand objectives. You will collaborate with senior scientific leadership to translate clinical insights into compelling medical communication strategies while ensuring executional excellence across deliverables.

  • Lead the planning, development, and quality oversight of scientific and medical education content across oncology and other therapeutic areas
  • Partner with senior scientific leadership to provide strategic medical communication recommendations aligned with client objectives
  • Independently manage end-to-end content development, including advisory boards, speaker programs, slide decks, and related deliverables
  • Supervise and mentor Associate Scientific Directors and coordinate with internal and freelance contributors
  • Conduct scientific literature reviews, data analysis, fact-checking, and reference validation to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Ensure all materials follow established medical writing standards, editorial guidelines, and ethical requirements
  • Manage timelines, priorities, and multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high scientific and editorial standards

Requirements

This position requires a strong scientific foundation combined with extensive experience in medical communications, particularly in promotional medical education and oncology-related content. The ideal candidate is both analytically strong and highly organized, with the ability to translate complex scientific data into clear, impactful communication.

  • Advanced degree in a scientific discipline (PhD, PharmD, MD, or equivalent strongly preferred)
  • 5+ years of experience in medical communications or medical education, including promotional content development
  • Proven experience in oncology and/or hematology preferred, with exposure to rare disease or other complex therapeutic areas a plus
  • Strong understanding of commercial medical education deliverables such as advisory boards, speaker programs, and slide presentations
  • Experience working within established editorial standards (e.g., AMA style) and industry compliance guidelines
  • Ability to interpret clinical and scientific data and translate it into clear, audience-appropriate messaging
  • Excellent project management, organizational, and multitasking skills with strong attention to detail
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and within cross-functional teams under tight deadlines
