This role is designed as a player-coach: someone who can both operate as the senior executive leader for the East, and personally own and grow a strategic book of business.

The Sales Director, East will be responsible for leading the commercial expansion of Pathlight MRD across the Eastern United States. This leader will directly manage a team of Regional Oncology Account Executives (ROAEs) while also overseeing a select territory of oncology accounts. Success requires deep oncology experience, fluency in molecular diagnostics, and the ability to drive alignment across clinical, operational, and executive stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Development

  • Recruit, onboard, and develop top-tier ROAEs across the East region, ensuring a culture of accountability, urgency, and high-trust execution as the sale organization expands in 2026 and beyond.
  • Create a data-driven rhythm of business: pipeline reviews, forecast accuracy, KPI dashboards, territory analyses, and weekly performance coaching.
  • Build a scalable playbook for provider activation, MRD education, and Pathlight adoption.

Commercial Execution (Player-Coach Component)

  • Own and grow a defined territory of oncology practices, NCI centers, and academic institutions.
  • Lead complex sales cycles—including MRD education, assay workflow logistics, specimen requirements, and surveillance protocols.
  • Deliver full-cycle execution: initial engagement, advisory discussions, onboarding, and order expansion.

Strategic Market Development

  • Collaborate with Sales Director, East as well as Director, Strategic Accounts to execute regional launch strategy for Pathlight MRD, focusing on early-stage breast oncology.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Strategic Accounts, Precision Medicine, Medical Affairs, Marketing, Client Services, and Lab Operations.
  • Collaborating with other leads across other departments, cultivate deep relationships with Key Opinion Leaders, breast program directors, nurse navigators, IDNs, and community oncology networks.

Forecasting & Performance Management

  • Track leading indicators and partner with leadership to refine compensation models, activation incentives, and regional growth levers.

Market Intelligence & Competitive Positioning

  • Own the narrative vs. first-generation MRD players.
  • Translate competitive insights into field strategy and leadership updates.

Requirements

  • 7–10+ years of oncology diagnostics, liquid biopsy, or molecular testing experience.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience managing remote, field-based teams.
  • Strong command of breast oncology clinical pathways.
  • Proven ability to influence clinical decision-makers.
  • Demonstrated success as both a quota-carrying rep and people leader.
  • Deep experience running long-cycle, high-science sales processes.
  • Operational rigor: forecasting, CRM discipline, pipeline construction, territory design.

What Success Looks Like:

  • Accelerated provider activation velocity across the East.
  • Meaningful MRD adoption across the early-stage breast cancer journey.
  • ROAE team hitting quota.
  • Pathlight positioned as the gold-standard MRD solution with KOLs in the region.
  • Strong performance in both personal territory and team results.

Benefits

  • Competitive Compensation and company wide benefits plan
  • Opportunities for career advancement and professional development.
  • A collaborative and innovative work environment dedicated to improving oncology outcomes.
