Varo is seeking a highly motivated and innovative Risk Automation Developer to join our Enterprise Risk Analytics team. This critical role focuses on identifying, developing, and implementing automated solutions to enhance our risk management framework. You'll be a key player in transforming our processes, driving efficiency, and contributing directly to the safety and soundness of our leading financial institution.


What you'll be doing
  • Automate and Optimize: Design, develop, and implement Robotic Process Automation (RPA) solutions to streamline risk management processes. Identify manual, repetitive tasks ripe for automation and create efficient, scalable solutions
  • Own and Manage Existing Processes: Take ownership of existing risk management processes, ensuring their smooth and efficient execution, even if currently manual. Identify areas for improvement and document procedures thoroughly
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Utilize your SQL and Python expertise to analyze large datasets, identify trends, and develop insightful reporting that informs risk management strategies
  • Proactive Risk Management: Develop and maintain automated monitoring and alerting systems to proactively identify and mitigate potential risks. Contribute to the creation of predictive models and early warning indicators
  • Continuous Improvement Champion: Continuously evaluate existing processes and identify opportunities for enhancement and automation. Collaborate with risk managers and business partners to refine and improve automation solutions
  • Technical Expertise: Serve as a subject matter expert on RPA and related technologies. Research and recommend new tools and techniques to enhance our automation capabilities


You'll bring the following required skills and experience
  • Automation Expertise: Demonstrated experience developing and implementing RPA solutions using industry-standard tools
  • Programming Proficiency: Strong programming skills in Python and SQL. Experience with other scripting languages is a plus
  • Analytical Acumen: Ability to analyze complex data sets, identify trends, and draw meaningful conclusions. Experience building reports and visualizations to communicate findings effectively
  • Creative Problem Solver: A passion for identifying inefficiencies and developing innovative, automated solutions
  • Collaboration and Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. Proven ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
  • Growth Mindset: Eagerness to learn new technologies and continuously expand your skill set in the evolving field of risk automation
  • Experience with risk management frameworks and methodologies (Preferred)
  • Familiarity with Tableau or other data visualization tools (Preferred)
  • Experience in the financial services industry (Preferred)


$85,000 - $105,000 a year
For cash compensation, we set standard ranges for all US-based roles based on function, level, and geographic location, benchmarked against similar-stage growth companies. Per applicable law, the salary range for this role is $85,000 - $105,000. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors as well as candidate experience and expertise and may vary from the identified range.
