As a Revenue Accountant, you will blend skill proficiency with strong judgement to support and advance Whisker Labs’ financial operations. This role requires a unique combination of skills, clear communication, and the ability to manage internal relationships effectively.

 

Key responsibilities and qualifications are listed below for this remote, full-time position that may require occasional travel as needed for training and team meetings.  This role will report to the Controller.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the revenue recognition process and all related tasks, from contract review to customer billing to revenue deferrals and recognition as part of the monthly close process.
  • Ensure compliance with ASC 606 revenue recognition standards
  • The current revenue recognition process is Excel-based; but will be transitioned to a SAAS-based process shortly following the filling of this position. The hire will be expected to learn the current process and then assist with the transition to the new process and then lead the process following the transition.
  • The Revenue Accountant will be a key member of the accounting close process, including preparing journal entries and performing account reconciliations and will also play a significant role in the annual audit.
  • Assist with sales tax process, including collaboration with Operations team on raw data review, reconciliation, and preparation for processing through tax software; review and reconciliation of processed data; collaborating with service provider(s) to ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual sales tax filings; and troubleshooting issues with prior-period returns.
  • Prepare revenue reports, metrics, analyses and other ad-hoc duties within Finance team as needed.
  • Liaise between other members of the Finance group as well as key members of the operations team to ensure seamless operations. Work collaboratively with other team members, sharing knowledge and supporting each other to achieve common goals.
  • Support team efforts to continuously improve and gain operation efficiencies by creating and maintaining documentation for internal training, workflow processes, and communication/troubleshooting.

Candidate Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in accounting, strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, particularly with revenue recognition and Accounting Standard ASC 606.
  • Minimum of 4-year College degree and/or related certification in Accounting preferred.
  • Maniacal attention to detail and unrelenting focus on accuracy in all duties and processes required.
  • Expert-level Excel skills are required.
  • Experience with software implementations/migrations and revenue related systems and tools a strong plus.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex accounting information in a clear and understandable manner.
  • A strong team player with the flexibility to adapt to rotating schedules and the demands of a startup environment.
  • Work Schedule and Travel: Work remotely from home and be willing to work on a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed, and travel as needed for training and team meetings.
