As the Research & Analysis Intern, you will play a material role in maintaining our company’s reputation for excellence and accuracy.  The Growth Management & Strategy (GMS) department is our central hub for resources which build strong company-client relationships. At a high level, you will update and improve important back-end data sources; research, summarize, and create visualizations of policy and other data; and develop resources which will improve the effectiveness of our business development and strategic client relationship planning. This position is part time, 20-25 hrs/week.  This experience will grant you insight into: <ul><li>The utility regulatory process and how utility clean transportation and solar incentive programs work </li><li>The United States utilities landscape </li></ul> You will also gain or deepen your talents in: <ul><li>Conducting and summarizing regulatory, policy, and utility industry research </li><li>Management and analysis of large datasets </li><li>Building data reports </li></ul> The resources you will leverage include: <ul><li>Microsoft Excel </li><li>Tableau </li><li>Energy Information Administration Electric Power Industry Report </li><li>Energy Information Administration Natural Gas Annual Respondent Query System </li><li>State Public Utility Commission Docket Systems </li></ul> A day in the life of this role: <ul><li>Research Clean Transportation & Solar Policy <ul><li>Reviewing existing documentation in Research & Analysis document libraries </li><li>Tracing the life cycle of policies and reviewing, recording, and summarizing information found in Public Utility Commission dockets </li></ul></li><li>Refresh the Research & Analysis Client Database <ul><li>Utilize Energy Information Administration reports, Salesforce, and other internal data sources to update the Energy Solutions Client Database </li><li>Develop a pivot table in Excel to consolidate data for dual fuel utilities </li><li>Use the updated Client Database to update other databases, which we use to facilitate company market understanding </li><li>Create visualizations of the updated data for presentation purposes using Tableau </li></ul></li><li>Update Research & Analysis Client Profiles  <ul><li>Confirm the accuracy of existing Profiles and transfer data from the existing template to a new one </li><li>Research utility websites, online news publications, Salesforce, R&A resources, and the Energy Solutions SharePoint to update any outdated information </li></ul></li></ul> To set you up for success, our ideal candidate will have Intermediate skills in: <ul><li>Excel </li></ul> Though not required, we prefer a candidate who: <ul><li>Is enrolled in a program that provides exposure to environmental or regulatory policy and some quantitative training </li></ul> Compensation:  <ul><li>Undergraduate student: $21/hr </li><li>Graduate student: $24/hr </li></ul> In order to be eligible for this position, you must be: <ul><li>Currently enrolled full- or part-time in an undergraduate program as a second to fourth-year student or enrolled in a graduate program.  <ul><li>Please note we are unable to accept applications from first-year undergraduate students or recent graduates who are not enrolled in a program. </li></ul></li><li>A US Citizen or permanent resident.  <ul><li>Please note we are unable to host international students, including those with or without sponsorship.</li></ul></li><li>Available to meet your weekly hours requirement between September and November 2025.</li><li>Motivated by Energy Solutions’ mission to reduce carbon emissions with an equity lens.</li></ul>You may apply for up to 2 positions per cycle.   View all our open Internship positions at <a href="https://energy-solution.com/internships/">https://energy-solution.com/internships/</a>.    To apply, please submit: <ul><li>Your updated resume/CV. </li><li>2 short essays that meet the criteria below. </li><li>A work sample that meets the criteria below. </li></ul>  Your short essays must: <ul><li>Be original documents written by you.
