We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Permanent Assistant Controller to join our team in the Manufacturing industry. This is an exceptional opportunity for a motivated and detail-oriented individual to make a significant impact within our organization. The Assistant Controller will play a crucial role in managing and overseeing the daily operations of the accounting department and be a leader who excels at streamlining processes and optimizing departmental performance, bringing a proven ability to improve workflows, strengthen controls, and drive scalable financial operations. Ideal candidates will combine hands-on accounting expertise with a process-improvement mindset to increase efficiency, accuracy, and overall financial visibility.

Responsibilities:

1. Oversee and manage the general accounting functions, including, but not limited to: accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and taxes.
2. Help with quarterly and year-end financial audit activities and the annual corporate financial controls audit.
3. Assess current practices and procedures, and make recommendations for improvements.
4. Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements to ensure accuracy and completeness.
5. Perform variance analysis and prepare account reconciliations.
6. Assist with financial and tax audits.
7. Document and monitor internal controls in support of auditing team.
8. Coordinate more complex accounting projects and initiatives with other members of the accounting and finance team or with other departments.
9. Utilize PowerBI and Excel to streamline accounting processes and procedures.
10. Contribute to the development and review of annual operating budgets and performance projections.
11. Maintain knowledge of organizational procedures, federal and state regulations, and best practices in accounting.
12. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
2. 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with a portion of it being in a supervisory role.
3. Thorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
4. Experience with financial and accounting reporting systems.
5. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
6. Outstanding knowledge and understanding of laws, regulations, and guidelines in accounting.
7. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
8. Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
9. Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
10. Professional certification like CMA, CPA is preferred.
11. Strong experience in cost accounting, forecasting, and budgeting.
12. Proficiency in optimization and strategic planning.
13. Experience in management accounting and able to prepare financial statements.
14. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage well through ambiguity and complexity.
15. An analytical mind with a strategic ability.
