This role sits at the intersection of finance, compliance, and government contracting, ensuring that financial systems and reporting processes meet strict regulatory and audit standards. You will play a key part in maintaining compliance with Cost Accounting Standards, Federal Acquisition Regulations, and internal control frameworks across complex defense-related operations. The position involves deep analytical work on financial data, audit support, and cost structure validation to ensure accuracy, transparency, and accountability. You will collaborate closely with accounting, controller, and program teams to support audits, resolve findings, and improve financial processes. This is a highly detail-oriented role that requires strong technical accounting knowledge and the ability to interpret and communicate complex financial information. It offers exposure to large-scale government programs and mission-critical financial operations in a highly regulated environment.
Accountabilities:- Analyze large financial datasets to generate meaningful insights for decision-making and compliance reporting
- Prepare incurred cost proposals, billing rate submissions, and quick-closeout rate analyses in accordance with regulatory requirements
- Support financial, SOX, internal, external, and government audits, including DCAA and DCMA engagements
- Perform detailed reconciliations and analysis of prior period adjustments and cost impacts
- Ensure compliance with Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), and GAAP principles
- Respond to audit findings and support resolution of open compliance or rate-related issues
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of financial controls, policies, and compliant accounting processes
- Provide financial data and analysis for quarterly reporting and leadership decision-making
- Partner across controller and business functions to support financial accuracy and operational priorities
- Recommend improvements to cost structures, allocation methods, and compliance processes
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field with 3+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent advanced degree with fewer years of experience
- Strong understanding of GAAP, FAR, and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS)
- Experience working with financial data analysis, auditing, or regulatory compliance in complex environments
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel for advanced data analysis and reporting
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to manage large datasets and identify trends or anomalies
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with multiple teams and explaining complex financial concepts
- Ability to work across functions and interact with various levels of management
- Experience in government contracting or defense-related financial environments is highly preferred
- Familiarity with SAP (PS/FI/CO modules) and Business Warehouse tools is a plus
- CPA certification or eligibility is an advantage
