We are seeking a dedicated Referral Coordinator to play a vital role in supporting life-saving organ and tissue donation initiatives. In this role, you will evaluate and respond to hospital referrals, determine potential donors, and coordinate with clinical and administrative teams to ensure timely and accurate processing. You will participate in a 24/7 call rotation, communicate effectively with hospital staff and internal teams, and maintain detailed documentation of all referral activities. Accountabilities:
  • Evaluate hospital referrals for potential organ/tissue donors and determine preliminary suitability.
  • Verify donor information including name, race, sex, date of birth, and next-of-kin.
  • Access and utilize donor registries, notify on-call staff, and coordinate onsite visits as needed.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of active referrals and ensure smooth handoff to incoming coordinators.
  • Provide follow-up to hospital liaisons, clinical staff, and other team members regarding referral status.
  • Participate in hospital development initiatives and assist in orientation of new staff.
  • Apply policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements.
Requirements:
Candidates should bring relevant medical experience and strong communication skills. Essential qualifications include:
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a related medical or healthcare environment, or relevant certification (e.g., RN).
  • Understanding of medical terminology and clinical processes.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion in handling sensitive information.
  • Strong verbal communication and phone etiquette skills.
  • Ability to participate in 24/7 call rotation and respond to emergency coverage as required.
  • Detail-oriented, collaborative, and mission-focused approach to work.
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree or some college coursework. Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
