This role offers the opportunity to develop and enhance advanced data analysis and visualization tools used by researchers and professionals across multiple domains. You will work on scalable software solutions, including distributed memory parallel algorithms, and contribute to both open-source and proprietary platforms. The position combines hands-on software development, problem-solving for complex datasets, and collaboration with a dynamic team of experts. Mentoring junior engineers and interacting with end-users adds an element of leadership and impact. This role allows for a mix of remote work and occasional client visits, providing a flexible yet high-impact environment for skilled engineers.

Accountabilities

In this role, you will:

  • Design and develop scalable data analysis and visualization tools, including contributions to toolkits like VTK and ParaView.
  • Build end-user applications to facilitate advanced data exploration and visualization.
  • Solve complex problems, including developing distributed memory parallel algorithms and maintaining software for high-performance computing environments.
  • Contribute to next-generation software solutions and enhance open-source projects within the community.
  • Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with other technical teams to improve development practices and software platforms.
  • Communicate effectively with users and provide technical guidance or feedback on product features and processes.
  • Participate in occasional travel to client sites as needed.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computational Science, or a related field with an emphasis on visualization and computational methods, or a Bachelor’s degree plus one year of relevant software development or research experience.
  • Strong experience in mesh generation and adaptation.
  • Proficiency in C++ and software development for scientific computing.
  • Experience with scalable data analysis and visualization techniques.
  • Familiarity with distributed memory parallel computing and high-performance computing environments.
  • Ability to mentor junior team members and communicate technical information effectively.
  • Skills may be developed concurrently with education and will be assessed through technical screening or interviews.
