Our company is a specialized railroad infrastructure design firm founded in 2005. We are searching for a Civil Designer with a minimum of 5 years of experience in the railroad civil engineering field to join our team. Primary responsibilities include preparing drawings and exhibits with Microstation/OpenRoads software and assist with design plan preparation, production and overall project management. Our design projects include clients in all areas of the transportation industry such as agricultural, chemical, aggregate, building materials and energy industries.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities- Work with a multi-disciplined team in the design and analysis of rail engineering projects as well as contractors and construction staff on design/build projects.
- Provide Project Management to staff on railroad track design projects including quality control, engineering design, construction specifications and project budgets.
- Manipulate computer aided drafting software (MicroStation/OpenRoads) to create aerial concept drawings, produce design plan/profile sheets with notes and callouts.
- Utilize MicroStation/OpenRoads to define roadway modeler templates, push cross sections and define mass grading requirements for various track projects.
- Create drawings for engineering projects and assist in developing digital maps from survey data sets when necessary.
- Perform plan updates and modifications to plan for submittal to railroad agencies.
- Provide overall project management duties including client updates, project schedules, and design team coordination.
- Preparation of plan, specifications, construction cost estimates and manage rail development design projects.
- Self-check own work for completeness and accuracy using the accepted drawing standards as guidelines.
- Assist with estimation of engineering work effort to support proposal preparation.
Education & Training Experience- High School Diploma or equivalent, Completion of a technical trade school in CAD, drafting or related field, plus at least 5 years of related work experience; or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
$85,000 - $105,000 a year
