About the Role


The QA Automation Engineer will primarily focus on creating and executing the automation testing strategy using Mission’s BDD framework.  The QA Automation Engineer role will report into the Quality Engineering (QE) Manager and will be responsible for enabling reliable builds by contributing to and maintaining an automated test suite using Selenium framework. The candidate will work with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure Mission’s priorities and standards are upheld.  An ideal candidate will be passionate about enforcing best practices, writing reliable automated scripts, and prototyping innovative approaches to advance and fortify automation testing.

What You'll Do

  • Design, develop, and execute automated tests based on Mission’s BDD framework.
  • Collaborate with third party team members as well as project managers, business analysts and developers to understand timelines, features, frameworks, and workflows to develop test scripts.
  • Understand and prioritize test script creation based on risk and timelines.
  • Advocate for quality and automation where it delivers value to Mission and our programs.
  • Create mitigation strategies, based on trends, to limit risk and maintainability to the code base.
  • Maintain and deliver results and reports of automation execution in a timely manner.
  • Assist in creation of a maintainable strategy for automation testing across different platforms.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional key stakeholders to share risks, defects, issues, and dependencies and to identify opportunities for optimization and improvement.
  • Utilize delivery methods like Agile, Scrum, SAFe, etc to deliver high quality products for end users.
  • Create test scripts, test data, and scenarios based on functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Design and maintain automation framework including selecting appropriate tools and technologies, building reusable components, and ensuring scalability and maintainability of the infrastructure.
  • Maintain automated testing environments, data, and configuration across sprints.
  • Validate that automated tests are seamlessly integrated into the build and deployment processes [CI/CD pipeline] for continuous feedback and faster releases.
  • Analyze failed tests, identify and log defects, and work with development teams to resolve issues.
  • Stay up to date with the latest trends in test automation and recommend improvements.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of quality-driven strategies and initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) or equivalent from an accredited four-year college in computer science, information science, information technology, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of related experience in quality engineering role.
  • 2+ years of related experience in a hands-on automation quality engineering role.
  • 4+ years of related experience utilizing tools such as Azure Devops, JIRA, ALM, etc… for test case management and execution.
  • 2+ years of experience in the P&C insurance industry and regulatory environment.
  • Experience with Policy Administration Systems across Policy and Billing functions (i.e., Guidewire, Duckcreek, Origami, QuickSolver etc…)
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the year.
  • Self-driven and ability to adapt quickly to a fast-paced and evolving environment.


Preferred Qualification

Experience with Selenium (Java) based automation.

  • Experience with modular and microservice based architecture.
  • Experience creating and executing automated tests for APIs, backend, and data ingestion.
  • Experience with version control tools (Git)

Additional Information

This is a remote position. Planned, in-office activities may be required on occasion (typically 2-4x per year).

You must live in the United States and be authorized to work in the United States without requirement of employment sponsorship/visa.
