Resource Innovations is seeking a Proposal Development Lead to join our growing remote team though we prefer to fill this position with someone in the eastern or central time zone. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Proposal Development Lead with a strong background in writing and leading proposal teams to join our dynamic team. As a Proposal Development Lead you will:

  • Orchestrate the proposal development process from RFP release through contract award
  • Support proposal and business development efforts in close collaboration with subject matter experts and external partners
  • Write custom copy that reflects our corporate and winning proposal strategies
  • Participate in pre-sale and positioning activitie
  • Lead post-submission activities including finalist presentation development and responses to client clarification questions

A proposal development lead plays a crucial role in Resource Innovations' success in securing new business opportunities and retaining existing business for the company by ensuring our proposals align with our corporate goals, crafting compelling narrative in the proposal, working at all levels within the company to mitigate operational risks, and ensuring that we submit high-quality proposals that comply with RFP requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead proposal development process from RFP receipt through submission including writing owning and writing content for all sections and participating in post-submission activities in a fully virtual environment working collaboratively with subject matter experts, sales leads, and external partners
  • Develop and uphold proposal development schedule
  • Write RFP-compliant proposal content that is persuasive, compelling, and supports strategies and win themes using proposal content library and new content developed through interviews with subject matter experts
  • Maintain and update critical sales management tools including Salesforce and SharePoint
  • Follow internal capture planning, proposal development, and presentation development processes and procedures 
  • Provide technical writing, editing, and/or proofreading as needed
  • Coordinate approvals for pricing and any exceptions or deviations from Resource Innovations’ standing operating procedures
  • Process complex technical information and create customized, persuasively written text / graphics for inclusion in a proposal
  • Produce, assemble, ship, upload, and/or otherwise deliver proposals on time in accordance with RFP/RFI requirement
  • Support post-submission requests such as developing responses to clarification questions, participating in presentation development, and archiving information
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, Marketing, English, Journalism, Communications, or related field OR 5+ years demonstrated and related experience in writing and editing large, complex proposals, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3+ years of experience developing, writing, producing, and managing materials in response to RFPs/RFIs/RFQs/RFAs
  • Experience with internet research, SharePoint, Salesforce, and advanced abilities in the Microsoft Office suite of software, including Word, PowerPoint, Teams, and Adobe Acrobat
  • Strong writing skills
  • Management and leadership skills
  • Interest in sustainability and passionate about making a meaningful impact on the environment.

Preferred skills, education and experience

  • Background in writing and communications for technical, service-oriented companies
  • Knowledge of demand side management, demand response, or other energy engineering and efficiency programs
  • Located in the Central or Eastern time zone
  • InDesign or other desk top publishing application
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Experience in a leadership role
