About Fira Health

Fira Health builds AI-native infrastructure to automate the administrative backbone of healthcare. We’re starting with home health, helping agencies reduce overhead, accelerate payments, and focus more on care—not paperwork. Our agentic AI platform integrates directly into providers’ operations, automating complex workflows like insurance verification, prior authorization, and billing.

Fira is backed by top-tier investors and built by a team with deep expertise across healthcare operations, applied AI, and complex workflow automation.

About the Role

We’re hiring a Product Engineer to design and build the AI systems that power our AI automation platform. You’ll work across domains such as intake, clinical documentation, and revenue cycle management, translating real-world processes into scalable, reliable software and agentic workflows.

A successful Product Engineer at Fira is analytical, resourceful, and comfortable working across product, data, and infrastructure layers. You’ll have significant ownership and the opportunity to shape both the technical architecture and product outcomes that define how our teams operate.

Over time, you’ll take end-to-end ownership of a domain, setting the technical vision, owning the roadmap, and leading engineering execution.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and deploy AI-driven systems that automate operational workflows across intake, charting, and revenue-cycle operations.

  • Collaborate closely with the Product team and engineering peers to translate complex operational processes into reliable, scalable technical systems.

  • Prototype and iterate quickly, validating ideas through production feedback and measurable impact rather than lengthy specs.

  • Instrument and monitor live systems, tracking metrics like accuracy, latency, and throughput to guide performance improvements.

  • Ensure quality, reliability, and compliance—embedding observability, audit trails, and HIPAA safeguards into every deployment.

  • Contribute to shared architecture and technical direction, helping scale our automation platform across multiple operational domains.

Qualifications

  • Technical Experience: 3–5 years of software or product-engineering experience in a high-growth or fast-changing environment.

  • Engineering Expertise: Strong foundation in backend or full-stack development, including APIs, data modeling, and system design. Familiarity with cloud platform and technology.

  • Execution & Delivery: Proven ability to drive product and technical initiatives to completion, making informed trade-off decisions to maximize business value and deliver measurable outcomes.

  • Collaboration & Communication: Excellent ability to partner effectively with Product and Engineering teams to deliver measurable impact.

  • Product Mindset: Ability to translate ambiguous requirements into clear, reliable, and scalable technical solutions, incorporating instrumentation and performance monitoring to drive data-informed iteration. Privacy by design - features meet security, privacy, and regulatory standards, including PHI protection.

  • AI & Data-Driven Systems: Experience working with AI, automation, or data-driven systems, translating model outputs into reliable, production-grade workflows.

Preferred:

  • Experience in healthcare technology, workflow automation, or other process-intensive systems.

  • Familiarity with human-in-the-loop design patterns or feedback loops that connect automation with human review.

  • Familiarity with modern software development processes (Agile, Scrum).

What We Offer

  • Collaborative team valuing innovation and problem-solving

  • Flexible time off policy—we expect most employees to take at least 3 weeks of vacation per year

  • In-office lunches, dinners, and snacks to fuel your focus and well-being

  • Comprehensive health insurance, dental, and commuter benefits

  • 401(k) retirement plan with employer contribution
