About Avalere Health

At Avalere Health, we are powered by a single, unifying mission to make EVERY PATIENT POSSIBLE. Our three capabilities – Advisory, Medical, and Marketing – move as one, seamlessly collaborating to ensure every patient is identified, supported, treated, and cared for, equally.

Achieving our mission starts with providing enriching, purpose-driven careers for our team that empower them to make a tangible impact on patient lives. We are committed to creating a culture where our employees are empowered to bring their whole selves to work and tap into the power of diverse backgrounds and skillsets to play a part in making a difference for every patient, everywhere.

Our flexible approach to working allows our global teams to decide where they want to work, whether in-office or at home based on team and client need. Major city hubs in London, Manchester, Washington, D.C., and New York, and smaller offices globally, serve as collaboration hubs allowing our teams to come together when it matters. Homeworkers are equally supported, with dedicated social opportunities and resources.

Our inclusive culture is at the heart of everything we do. We proudly support our employees in bringing their whole selves to work with our six Employee Network Groups – Diverse Ability, Family, Gender, LGBTQ+, Mental Health, and Race/Ethnicity. These groups provide opportunities to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion and to connect, learn, and socialise through regular meetings and programs of activity. We are an accredited Fertility Friendly employer with our Fertility Policy, enhanced parental leave, and culture of flexibility ensuring every employee feels supported across their family planning journey and can work in a way that suits their family’s needs.

We are deeply invested in supporting professional growth for our employees through day-to-day career experiences, access to thousands of on-demand training sessions, regular career conversations, and the opportunity for global, cross-capability career moves.

We take pride in being part of the Disability Confident Scheme. This helps make sure you can be interviewed fairly if you have a disability, long term health condition, or are neurodiverse. If you'd like to apply and need adjustments made, you can let us know in your application.

About The Role

As a Principal UX Designer, you will shape the strategic direction of user experience initiatives for key healthcare marketing accounts. You will be instrumental in helping us define our product vision in this sector. Your leadership will guide project teams through the full UX lifecycle, from ideation to implementation, always prioritizing the needs of patients, healthcare providers (HCPs), and caregivers, leading and executing at each stage.

What You'll Do
  • Lead UX Strategy & Vision: Define, articulate, and champion UX strategy with a clear focus on business outcomes and user-centered design. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to shape experience design, content strategy, and UI frameworks tailored to the healthcare space.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Present UX concepts to internal and external teams, including executive leadership and client partners, with clarity and confidence. Plan and facilitate workshops, synthesizing insights into actionable design strategies.
  • Project Ownership & Delivery: Own the end-to-end UX process, including diagramming user flows, developing content architecture and sitemaps, building wireframes and prototypes, and advising creative teams on the use of design systems built on compliance and accessibility standards.
  • Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Translate complex requirements into intuitive solutions through close partnerships with Client Services, Strategy, Tech, and Creative teams to co-create scalable and adaptable experiences. Embed UX best practices across teams and actively mentor peers and junior designers.
  • User Research & Usability Testing: Plan, conduct, and synthesize user research and usability testing sessions. Incorporate findings into design iterations to ensure intuitive, accessible, and engaging experiences that meet user needs and business goals. Use research and analytics to validate design decisions and measure success.
  • Process & Governance: Help refine internal UX processes and rules of engagement, especially in regulated domains such as Pharmaceutical and Life Sciences. Ensure accurate time tracking, strong team alignment, and overall project health. Continuously monitor trends in human-centered design, digital tools, and design technologies to propose innovative solutions and future opportunities.

About You
  • You are a UX leader who thrives in complexity, balances creativity with strategy, and inspires others with a thoughtful, human-first approach to design. You lead by example—both as a visionary and a practitioner.
  • Strategic Thinker & Tactical Doer: Proven success in managing omni-channel digital design projects and large-scale platform initiatives. Comfortable shaping long-term product roadmaps while delivering results in agile sprints. Deep expertise in UX/UI for websites, responsive and adaptive design, and modern web technologies. Demonstrated capability in creating data-driven, user-informed design strategies.
  • Research-Driven: Strong experience conducting user research and usability testing to validate and evolve design solutions. Skilled at leveraging qualitative and quantitative insights to inform UX recommendations.
  • Effective Communicator: Excellent written and verbal skills. Strong storytelling ability in design presentations and client engagements. Experience leading workshops and synthesizing complex requirements.
  • Mentor & Collaborator: Capable of elevating team performance through mentorship, inclusion, and collaboration. Comfortable working both independently and within interdisciplinary teams.
  • Data-Informed & Outcome-Oriented: Proficient in UX research and analytics tools. Ability to measure and communicate the impact of UX innovations clearly and confidently.
  • Experience with Life Sciences or Pharmaceutical medical communications is a significant plus.
