This role sits at the core of international trade compliance for advanced defense and technology programs, ensuring that critical technologies, data, hardware, and services are transferred globally in a fully compliant and efficient manner. You will operate in a fast-paced, high-impact environment supporting export and import licensing strategies that directly enable international business growth and program execution. Acting as a key subject matter expert, you will interpret complex U.S. regulations and guide cross-functional teams on ITAR and EAR requirements. The position blends regulatory expertise, strategic thinking, and hands-on execution across global trade authorizations. You will collaborate closely with program teams, supply chain, legal, and leadership stakeholders to enable mission success while maintaining strict compliance. This is a highly visible role where your decisions directly support international operations and national security objectives.
Accountabilities:- Develop and execute export authorization strategies supporting international marketing, sales, manufacturing, procurement, and program activities across defense and dual-use technologies.
- Prepare, submit, and manage export/import license applications, agreements, exemptions, and other government authorizations in compliance with ITAR and EAR regulations.
- Provide ongoing guidance and interpretation of U.S. export control laws to internal stakeholders, ensuring compliant business execution.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to determine appropriate legal export authority for hardware, technical data, and defense services.
- Monitor, track, and communicate authorization status updates to leadership and program teams to support operational planning.
- Support compliance activities including audits, investigations, record management, and process improvements within global trade operations.
- Deliver training and act as a resource for internal teams on export compliance requirements and best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with at least 5 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with 3+ years in global trade, export compliance, or related fields.
- Strong hands-on experience applying ITAR and EAR regulations in operational environments.
- Proven experience managing export/import licenses, authorizations, and related compliance processes.
- Familiarity with global trade systems and tools such as DECCS, SNAP-R, SAP-GT, or similar platforms.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess regulatory risk and provide practical recommendations.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders across technical and non-technical teams.
- High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a regulated environment.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across cross-functional and global teams.
