This role operates at the center of high-impact contracting activities within a complex aerospace and defense environment, supporting critical supply chain and government-related agreements. You will manage a wide range of contract types, from fast-turn purchase orders to highly complex, regulation-heavy agreements involving U.S. Government requirements. Acting as a key advisor to business units, you will help shape contract strategy, mitigate risk, and ensure compliance with stringent regulatory frameworks. The role requires close collaboration with legal, supply chain, and cross-functional stakeholders to translate complex contractual requirements into practical business solutions. You will also play a key role in negotiations, governance, and continuous improvement efforts that enhance contracting efficiency and consistency. This is a highly autonomous position where your expertise directly influences business execution, compliance posture, and operational excellence.
Accountabilities:- Lead the drafting, negotiation, interpretation, and lifecycle management of complex contracts, including those involving FAR/DFARS and U.S. Government requirements
- Serve as a subject matter expert for business units, providing guidance on contract structure, risk areas, and compliance alignment
- Analyze contract terms to identify risks related to cybersecurity, export controls, data protection, and procurement regulations, and develop mitigation strategies
- Partner with legal counsel and internal stakeholders to resolve complex contractual and regulatory issues
- Support and lead negotiations with customers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams to align on contract terms and business objectives
- Maintain accurate contract documentation, ensure audit readiness, and manage contract repositories and governance processes
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including templates, clause libraries, workflows, and process optimization
- Support audits and compliance reviews involving internal and external regulatory bodies
- Provide mentorship, coaching, and guidance to junior contracting professionals and act as an escalation point for complex issues
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree with at least 5 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with 3+ years of experience in contracts or a related field
- Minimum 2 years of experience working with U.S. Government contracts, including FAR/DFARS and compliance requirements
- Strong understanding of contract law principles, negotiation strategies, and regulatory frameworks
- Experience working with cybersecurity requirements (e.g., NIST 800-171), export controls (ITAR/EAR), and procurement integrity rules
- Ability to communicate complex contractual concepts clearly across all organizational levels
- Experience in large, matrixed, cross-functional environments involving legal, supply chain, finance, and engineering teams
- Familiarity with contract lifecycle management (CLM) systems is a plus
- Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and ability to operate with high autonomy
