This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Principal Software Engineer in the United States.

As a Principal Software Engineer, you will lead the design, development, and implementation of scalable, full-stack software solutions that power a rapidly growing platform. You’ll collaborate across engineering teams to define technical strategy, improve platform performance, and maintain high standards for reliability, security, and maintainability. This role allows for hands-on development across both server-side and client-side technologies, while providing mentorship and technical guidance to other engineers. Working in a fully remote, flexible environment, you’ll have the autonomy to make impactful decisions that shape the product and directly benefit thousands of users. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, innovative setting and enjoys balancing strategic leadership with practical engineering execution.

Accountabilities

  • Collaborate on designing and implementing system architecture, technical strategy, and engineering standards.
  • Lead technical initiatives across teams, ensuring alignment with architectural direction and goals.
  • Build and maintain platform-level components, services, and libraries to enhance engineering efficiency and system maintainability.
  • Contribute directly to both server-side and client-side development across the full technology stack.
  • Mentor engineers through code reviews, pair programming, and hands-on guidance.
  • Write and review technical design documents, system diagrams, and reference implementations.
  • Evaluate and implement new tools, frameworks, and best practices to continuously improve the platform.
  • Enhance observability, performance, scalability, and security throughout the system.
  • Share knowledge and insights to foster team growth and improvement.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Principal Software Engineer, Lead Full-Stack Engineer, or in a similar senior technical role.
  • Strong proficiency in server-side and client-side development using languages and frameworks such as PHP (Laravel), JavaScript (React, React Native, Vue).
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure) and Infrastructure as Code (IAC).
  • Expertise in Test Driven Development (TDD), RESTful APIs, and secure coding practices.
  • Solid understanding of computer science fundamentals including Big O notation, data structures, pointers, composition vs. inheritance.
  • Proficient in SQL and NoSQL databases, with knowledge of CRUD operations, indexes, and joins.
  • Customer-focused mindset with strong attention to clean code, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and mentorship skills.
