This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Principal Software Engineer – MarkLogic Database in the United States.

As a Principal Software Engineer focused on MarkLogic, you will lead the design, architecture, and development of high-performance, scalable, and secure database systems. You will be instrumental in shaping core database features, optimizing performance, and ensuring reliability for enterprise-grade NoSQL solutions. This role involves collaborating with product management, QA, and technical documentation teams to deliver high-quality features while mentoring junior engineers. You will tackle complex distributed and multi-threaded systems, contributing to the evolution of mission-critical applications used by Global 2000 customers. The position offers a fully remote, collaborative environment where technical leadership and innovation are valued.

Accountabilities

·        Lead the design, architecture, and implementation of core MarkLogic database features, including security, scalability, and performance.

·        Develop high-performance, fault-tolerant systems in C++ and contribute to multi-threaded distributed applications.

·        Collaborate with Product Owners and development teams to define product vision and ensure functional and non-functional requirements are met.

·        Mentor and guide junior engineers, promoting best practices in distributed systems and secure software development.

·        Design and implement proof-of-concept projects and participate in technical discussions to ensure project success.

·        Troubleshoot and debug complex server-side issues and contribute to continuous improvement of development processes.

Requirements

·        8+ years of hands-on experience in database internals or building core components for data processing systems.

·        5+ years of experience with distributed and multi-threaded systems, developing software for cluster environments.

·        Advanced C++ coding skills; familiarity with XQuery and JavaScript is a plus.

·        Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix systems; Windows experience is a bonus.

·        Experience with MarkLogic Server or similar NoSQL/SQL hybrid databases is highly desirable.

·        Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and containerized environments.

·        Experience with version control systems (SVN, Git) and full software development lifecycle.

·        Proven ability to debug complex server-side issues using tools such as GDB.

·        Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.

Preferred / Additional Skills:

·        Expertise in high-performance distributed systems, fault-tolerant architecture, and performance optimization.

·        Knowledge of web and network protocols, JSON, and XML document formats.
