This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Principal Site Reliability Engineer in the United States.

This role offers a senior technical leadership opportunity to ensure the reliability, scalability, and operational excellence of a mission-critical financial technology platform. The Principal Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) will partner with engineering and product teams to embed reliability best practices across distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and microservices environments. The position combines hands-on engineering with leadership, mentorship, and cross-functional influence, driving automation, observability, and resilience at scale. This is ideal for a seasoned engineer passionate about improving operational processes, reducing toil, and enhancing customer experience. The role emphasizes proactive incident management, continuous improvement, and the development of a reliability-focused engineering culture. Candidates will be expected to guide teams through complex technical challenges while promoting collaboration, efficiency, and innovation.

  • Accountabilities:
  • Define and implement the SRE strategy, aligning reliability practices with long-term business and technology goals.
  • Lead incident response, postmortems, and drive systemic reliability improvements across multiple product teams.
  • Own platform-wide concerns including observability, monitoring, alerting, performance, scalability, and resiliency.
  • Partner with engineering leadership and product teams to embed reliability principles into design, planning, and delivery.
  • Automate detection, resolution, and recovery for recurring production issues to reduce operational workload.
  • Evaluate and introduce new technologies, frameworks, and practices to improve reliability, cost efficiency, and performance.
  • Mentor and coach engineers across levels, fostering a reliability-first mindset and advancing team capabilities.
  • Requirements:
  • 10+ years of professional software or systems engineering experience, including 5+ years in SRE or reliability-focused roles.
  • Proven leadership experience influencing reliability practices across multiple teams or domains.
  • Strong expertise in distributed systems, cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred), CI/CD, microservices, and serverless architectures.
  • Deep knowledge of observability, monitoring, alerting, and incident management.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Node.js/JavaScript, or similar, including scripting for automation.
  • Experience with relational and non-relational databases.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with engineering and business stakeholders.
  • Preferred: experience in high-throughput, regulated industries (payments, fintech, banking), event-driven architectures, and mentoring senior engineers; advanced cloud or SRE certifications are a plus.
  • Benefits:
  • Competitive compensation ($181,700 - $201,000) with bonus programs and employee stock purchase options.
  • 401(k) matching and financial wellness resources.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, including mental health support.
  • Family planning and women’s health benefits.
  • Gym membership reimbursement and virtual wellness programs.
  • PTO: 3 weeks to start, with unlimited PTO after one year.
  • Education reimbursement, leadership development programs, and certification support (CPP).
