This role sits at the intersection of advanced AI research and real-world product development, shaping the next generation of machine learning and generative AI solutions in professional domains such as legal, tax, risk, and news. The position is designed for a senior research leader who can bridge cutting-edge scientific innovation with practical, scalable applications. It involves defining research direction, driving high-impact AI initiatives, and influencing product strategy across multiple teams. The environment is highly collaborative, combining applied research, engineering, and product thinking to solve complex customer problems. This role also requires strong leadership in mentoring scientists and guiding technical excellence across cross-functional initiatives. It is an opportunity to directly influence AI strategy and deliver meaningful impact at enterprise scale.


Accountabilities:
  • Define and lead AI/ML research strategy across key domains such as legal reasoning, document understanding, knowledge graphs, and generative AI applications.
  • Drive end-to-end development of advanced AI systems, from research exploration to production deployment in collaboration with engineering and product teams.
  • Lead technical initiatives involving NLP, information retrieval, RAG architectures, agentic systems, and large-scale model evaluation.
  • Translate complex customer and domain-specific problems into scalable AI solutions with measurable business and product impact.
  • Establish best practices for AI development, evaluation methodologies, and responsible deployment of machine learning systems.
  • Mentor and guide scientists and engineers, fostering technical excellence and research rigor across teams.
  • Contribute to roadmap definition by identifying novel methods and emerging AI opportunities that influence product direction.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders as a technical thought leader representing applied AI innovation.

Requirements:

  • PhD or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or related technical field with equivalent industry experience.
  • 8+ years of hands-on experience building production-grade ML, NLP, IR, or Generative AI systems.
  • Proven experience leading technical teams and driving end-to-end AI solutions in cross-functional environments.
  • Deep expertise in modern AI architectures including RAG systems, agent-based frameworks, and tool-using models.
  • Strong track record of applying AI to complex professional domains such as legal, healthcare, tax, or similar regulated industries.
  • Experience delivering production-ready software with strong MLOps and engineering practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence product direction through research innovation and technical leadership.
  • Excellent communication, analytical thinking, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Publications in top-tier AI/ML venues (e.g., NeurIPS, ACL, EMNLP, ICLR, SIGIR, KDD) are highly valued.
