This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Principal Data Engineer in the United States.
In this role, you will serve as a senior technical owner of a mission-critical analytics data platform that powers reporting, financial operations, and strategic decision-making across the organization. You will design and evolve a modern data architecture centered on Snowflake, ensuring scalable, reliable, and well-modeled data systems. Acting as a key bridge between product engineering, analytics engineering, and business stakeholders, you will shape how data is created, transformed, and consumed end to end. This is a highly hands-on leadership position, combining deep SQL and Python expertise with architectural ownership and cross-functional influence. You will also drive improvements in data quality, observability, and automation across complex pipelines. The environment is fast-moving, collaborative, and highly technical, with significant visibility and impact across the business.
This role requires extensive experience in data engineering or analytics engineering at a senior or principal level, with strong architectural ownership of large-scale data platforms. Candidates should bring deep expertise in Snowflake, SQL, and relational data modeling, along with strong experience in dbt-based transformation workflows. Advanced Python skills are required, particularly for building and maintaining data pipelines on AWS (Glue, Lambda, Step Functions) and managing infrastructure via AWS CDK. Experience integrating with third-party APIs, including handling authentication, retries, and reliability constraints, is essential. Strong systems thinking, communication skills, and the ability to influence across technical and non-technical stakeholders are critical. Experience building reliable, observable data systems and mentoring engineers is also expected. A background of 10+ years in data-related roles is typically required.
