This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Platform Engineering Lead in California (USA).

In this role, you will lead the strategic development and evolution of an internal development platform, enabling software teams to work more efficiently and effectively. You will treat the platform as a product, focusing on developer experience and adoption, while driving automation, security, and scalability across multi-cloud environments such as Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform. This role offers the opportunity to guide a cross-functional team, implement best practices in CI/CD, GitOps, container orchestration, and observability, and influence technology strategy at a high level. You will collaborate closely with engineering, security, and product teams, ensuring the platform supports business objectives while maintaining operational excellence. Remote work is supported, providing flexibility and a dynamic, innovative environment.

Accountabilities:

·        Lead the architecture, implementation, and continuous improvement of the internal development platform (IDP), ensuring scalability, security, and alignment with organizational strategy.

·        Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing cross-functional team, fostering a culture of technical excellence and collaboration.

·        Champion Platform Engineering principles, including self-service enablement, complexity abstraction, and a product-centric approach to internal tooling.

·        Drive adoption and optimization of CI/CD pipelines and GitOps practices, using tools such as ArgoCD for declarative Kubernetes deployments.

·        Oversee containerization and orchestration strategies, particularly Kubernetes, to ensure resilient and portable applications.

·        Collaborate with SRE, security, and product teams to implement observability, monitoring, and compliance by design (DevSecOps).

·        Lead initiatives for performance tuning, cost optimization, and continuous improvement of platform efficiency.

Requirements

·        University degree or college diploma in a related discipline.

·        5+ years of progressive experience in software engineering, DevOps, or SRE, with 2-3 years specifically in Platform Engineering.

·        Deep hands-on expertise with public cloud platforms, specifically Microsoft Azure and GCP.

·        Expert-level knowledge of Kubernetes, containerization, and orchestration technologies.

·        Extensive experience designing, implementing, and optimizing CI/CD pipelines, with mastery of GitOps principles.

·        Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform.

·        Experience with observability solutions and OpenTelemetry (oTel) for telemetry collection and analysis.

·        Strong programming and scripting skills (Python, Go, Bash, or similar).

·        Solid understanding of cloud security best practices, including IAM, encryption, secret management, and DevSecOps.

·        Exceptional communication, problem-solving, strategic thinking, and collaboration skills.

·        Product mindset with a relentless focus on developer experience and adoption.

Benefits

·        Competitive annual salary ranging from $69,100 to $129,200, depending on experience and qualifications.

·        Fully remote role with flexible work arrangements.

·        Comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, disability, and life insurance.

·        Employer-matched pension/retirement plan.

·        Annual bonus programs and performance recognition.

·        Professional development opportunities and technical skill growth.

·        Generous vacation and personal health days, parental leave, and wellness programs.
