About QSIC
QSIC is reinventing in-store audio. We use Audio, Intelligence (AI) and Creativity to redefine the value of in-store audio and drive growth for retailers and brands. Our story began in Australia over a decade ago with a love for music and a simple purpose: to create value that others canât see. We sought to bring that to life through exceptional audio experiences, so we built the leading intelligent in-store audio platform for retailers and brands. At QSIC, in-store audio has never been just âbackground noise.â Audio has the power to change the atmosphere, spark emotion and shift the atmosphere. When itâs seamlessly woven into an in-store experience, it doesnât just play â it connects. It engages shoppers without distracting them, influences decisions where it matters most, and elevates the entire shopping journey. Today, QSIC technology powers thousands of stores across three continents, reaching over 100 million shoppers each month.
- QSICâs Ad Platform removes the friction of ad production, and instantly creates targeted, brand-aligned messaging with AI. Advertisers can use our Planning solution to eliminate guesswork by having their messages dynamically placed in the market - at the right time, for maximum impact. Every ad play is recorded and verified, providing unprecedented transparency.
-QSICâs In-Store Audio solutions deliver intelligent, scalable and personalised playlists to match brand identities, and automated volume control to adjust for every moment!
- QSIC Intelligence provides enhanced targeting, and predicts the right message for every moment using our data-driven insights. The QSIC Intelligence solution includes performance analytics and self-service reporting.
Our motivation is to create value that others donât see. Our promise is to use audio, intelligence and relentless dedication to transform spaces and deliver results. We have team members based in Australia, the United States and Mexico, and received Series B funding in January 2025. Weâre just getting started!
About the role
QSIC is looking for a Platform Engineer to work with our Engineering, Product and Operations teams to manage our distributed fleet of media players and smart speakers installed across North and Central America. As the first US-based team member in our Australia-based, remote-first Engineering team, you will also collaborate day-to-day with our Dallas-based Support and Operations teams to provide deep technical expertise in the local timezone.
This is a fulltime role required to be located in the Pacific, Mountain or Central timezone, to ensure overlap with our Dallas and Australia teams. A typical week in this role may include:
- Collaborating with our Platform and Engineering teams to improve the build and deployment process for the software released to our fleet of RaspberryPi-based media players.
- Working with our Operations team to investigate network issues impacting our fleet, and addressing them with our customerâs Network Engineers.
- Building tools in Bash and Golang to help us quickly and efficiently manage the fleet. Depending on your skills, you may also contribute to the software on our devices, or our API.
- Refining our observability pipelines to ensure that monitors and dashboards correctly and efficiently support our teams and alert us to issues.
- Investigating hardware and software issues across different customers, building tools to identify and remedy them at scale, and feeding others into our Product and Engineering roadmap for future development.
- Playing a key role in modelling good engineering practices to the wider US organisation in real-time, and help us to refine Ops and Engineering processes and communication.
As someone with a background in deeply technical software or networking fields, youâll be as comfortable hacking on a bash script or reviewing a peerâs Golang code as you are troubleshooting firewall configuration with a customerâs Network Engineers. Youâll be someone who is seeking to grow and learn in a fast-paced technology company, and keen to play a part in supporting QSICâs continued growth and scalability, globally.
What Youâll Do
- Collaborate closely with Engineering, Product and Operations teams to support and improve the management of our device and smart speaker fleet installed on client networks.
- Support our Operations team with deep technical troubleshooting and expertise, collaborating with customer IT/Network stakeholders as required.
- Investigate and collaborate on technical & configuration issues on customer networks such as firewall configurations, routing, DNS, and so on.
- Contribute to the design and implementation of fleet management tools used to build and deploy our software across our fleet, including observability and alerting tools.
- Be a subject matter expert to help design systems which deliver a high quality in store experience, while allowing engineers to work in a fast, safe environment.
- Participate in discussions with QSIC teams to ensure that our entire product is designed to take into account the complexity of the in store environment when managing a fleet of distributed devices at scale.
Additional Responsibilities
- Stay updated on industry trends, market dynamics, and best practices in engineering.
- Continuously seek opportunities for team process improvement and innovation.
