The Physician Advisor plays a key part in ensuring clinical accuracy, optimizing utilization management, and supporting compliant documentation practices across hospital systems. You will collaborate closely with physicians, care teams, and revenue cycle leaders to improve decision-making and enhance patient care efficiency. Accountabilities:- Provide clinical expertise to support utilization management, ensuring appropriate admission status, level of care, and medical necessity determinations.
- Review complex patient cases and collaborate with care teams to ensure accurate documentation and compliant clinical decision-making.
- Partner with revenue cycle and clinical operations teams to optimize processes and reduce avoidable denials or delays in care.
- Serve as a liaison between physicians, hospital administration, and payer organizations to align clinical and financial considerations.
- Support education initiatives for physicians and staff on documentation standards, compliance requirements, and utilization best practices.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing care efficiency, patient flow, and resource utilization.
- Provide expert guidance on regulatory requirements, payer guidelines, and industry standards impacting clinical operations.
Requirements:
- Medical Doctor (MD or DO) degree with active US medical license and board certification in a relevant specialty.
- Clinical experience in hospital medicine, internal medicine, or a related specialty, with strong understanding of inpatient care processes.
- Experience or strong interest in utilization management, clinical documentation improvement, or revenue cycle operations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate complex clinical and operational scenarios.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to engage effectively with physicians, administrators, and non-clinical stakeholders.
- Ability to balance clinical judgment with regulatory, financial, and operational considerations.
- Experience working in multidisciplinary, system-level healthcare environments is highly preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to interpret payer policies, guidelines, and compliance standards.
