About the Role

Semgrep is looking for our first Employee Experience Specialist to own and continuously improve the programs and moments that shape how people experience Semgrep — starting with the candidate interview process and continuing through onboarding, growth, and internal transitions. This role will be responsible for delivering a seamless, welcoming onsite interview experience, running a high-quality onboarding program, building engaging people programs, and supporting key lifecycle moments such as benefits engagement, internal moves, and global mobility.

This is a highly cross-functional, hands-on role for someone who enjoys both people-facing work and strong operational execution. You’ll partner closely with People Operations, Talent, Hiring Managers, and Leadership to ensure that candidates and employees alike experience Semgrep as organized, thoughtful, and human as we scale.

You’ll be a critical member of the People Operations team, helping ensure that as we grow from ~200 to ~300 employees over the next year, our culture, programs, and processes scale in a way that supports engagement, retention, and career growth.

This role is based out of our San Francisco office, with an in-office expectation of at least 4 days a week. Prior experience in a fast-paced, tech environment is helpful, but we are more interested in your passion for creating great employee experiences and your willingness to build and improve programs than your pedigree. So if this opportunity excites you but you don't meet the exact requirements, apply anyway!

What you'll do - In Order of Impact

  • Own end-to-end onboarding and early employee experience, from pre-start through the first 90 days, continuously improving programs, content, and cross-functional coordination

  • Own the onsite candidate interview experience, partnering with Talent and Hiring Managers to deliver smooth logistics and a welcoming, high-quality experience

  • Design and run employee engagement programs, including new hire check-ins, milestone moments, culture initiatives, and engagement survey follow-ups

  • Drive benefits and perks engagement, creating programs and communications that increase awareness, utilization, and employee wellbeing

  • Serve as a front-of-house presence at our SF office, greeting candidates, visitors, and employees and helping create a welcoming office environment

  • Support relocations, global mobility, and internal moves, coordinating processes, timelines, and communications with internal teams and external partners

  • Manage contractor onboarding and offboarding, ensuring a smooth, compliant, and well-coordinated experience with internal teams and contractors

  • Serve as a key People Operations partner, answering employee questions, maintaining accurate data, improving workflows, and supporting internal communications and events

You are ideal for this role if you:

  • Embrace the dynamic, uncertain environment of a Series D startup

  • Have 2+ years of experience in HR, People Operations, Employee Experience, or a related role

  • Have experience owning onboarding or similar employee programs end-to-end

  • Are interested in and understand benefits, wellbeing, and engagement programs

  • Have had exposure to engagement surveys or basic people analytics

  • Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills; you enjoy helping people and building trust

  • Have a builder mindset — you like creating and improving processes, not just following them

  • Have experience working with HRIS systems and common workplace tools (Google Workspace, Slack, Rippling, CultureAmp, etc.)

Compensation

Salary Range: $95,000 - $115,000

Our compensation package includes equity and benefits in addition to salary.

Please note that the range listed is for someone based in the San Francisco Bay Area.

What we offer (FTE only)

Our goal is to competitively and fairly compensate every Semgrep employee with a system that equally rewards those who are vocal and those who are less comfortable making demands during the final steps of the hiring process. To that end, we generate internal compensation bands that are used when discussing and negotiating salaries. We update these based on market data to make sure they’re above the average for comparable roles.

We invest in our employees’ well-being and long-term success through a competitive, market-aligned benefits program that meets or exceeds local market standards across all of the regions in which we hire. Benefits offerings vary by location to reflect local requirements and norms. For more detailed, location-specific information, please visit Semgrep Benefits.

Who we are

Semgrep is an equal-opportunity employer seeking a diverse range of backgrounds. We value who you are — including your cultural heritage, your socioeconomic status, your age, your race, your gender, your sexual orientation, your disabilities. We value what’s vitally important to you — your family, your religion, your politics. We value what you love in this world — your music, your weekend pursuits. We believe in welcoming varied professional backgrounds, educations, and interests. If you’re exceptional in your role, believe in Semgrep’s mission, and treat Semgrep’s values as your own, you belong here.
