Accountabilities

Write engaging content for internal and external newsletters focused on civic engagement, voter education, and organizational updates.
Develop blog articles and news stories covering topics such as voting rights, election updates, and civic participation.
Research and conduct interviews for volunteer spotlights, event coverage, and election-related reporting.
Pitch story ideas and collaborate with editors on assigned editorial topics.
Support content planning and contribute to storytelling strategies aligned with mission goals.
Ensure all written content is clear, accurate, and aligned with editorial standards and tone.
Participate in team collaboration sessions and editorial meetings (including weekly check-ins).
Help translate complex civic and election-related topics into accessible, engaging content for a broad audience.

Requirements

Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills with journalism experience or clips to demonstrate work.
Current journalism student, recent graduate, or freelance writer with relevant experience.
Familiarity with WordPress or similar content management systems.
Ability to research topics thoroughly and conduct interviews when needed.
Interest in civic engagement, elections, political reporting, or nonprofit communications.
Ability to work independently in a remote, volunteer-based environment.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality content.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with distributed teams.
