This role is a hands-on leadership position responsible for building and scaling a high-impact revenue accounting function within a fast-growing, technology-driven environment. The position focuses on ensuring accurate revenue recognition under ASC 606 while supporting complex, project-based and services-oriented revenue streams. It plays a key role in strengthening financial operations across billing, collections, and revenue processes while ensuring compliance, scalability, and operational excellence. The role works closely with cross-functional teams including Sales, Legal, Deal Desk, Delivery, and Finance to manage complex contracts and financial workflows. It requires someone who thrives in ambiguity, enjoys building systems and processes from the ground up, and can operate comfortably at both strategic and operational levels. Accountabilities:- Own and manage revenue recognition processes in compliance with ASC 606, including contract review, performance obligations, revenue allocation, and SSP analysis.
- Lead and optimize project-based billing operations, ensuring accurate invoicing aligned with contracts, milestones, and delivery outcomes.
- Partner with Sales, Legal, and Deal Desk teams to evaluate complex contracts and provide accounting guidance on revenue treatment.
- Support and improve collections processes, driving better cash flow and resolving billing and payment issues with enterprise customers.
- Lead month-end close activities including journal entries, reconciliations, flux analysis, and revenue reporting.
- Ensure strong GAAP compliance and maintain integrity of general ledger accounts related to revenue.
- Prepare technical accounting documentation, including memos and audit support materials.
- Collaborate with auditors during quarterly and annual audits, ensuring readiness and compliance.
- Identify and implement process improvements, automation opportunities, and system enhancements across revenue workflows.
Requirements:
- 7+ years of experience in revenue accounting with strong expertise in ASC 606.
- Solid background in project-based, services, or hybrid SaaS revenue models.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and general ledger accounting principles.
- Experience managing or supporting month-end close processes in a complex environment.
- Proven ability to operate in ambiguous environments and build scalable processes from scratch.
- Experience preparing technical accounting documentation and supporting external audits.
- Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail and ability to think strategically.
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Hands-on approach with willingness to work deeply in operational and transactional details.
- Experience in enterprise billing and collections processes is highly valued.
