This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead a high-performing software engineering team in a mission-driven technical environment. You will oversee the full software development lifecycle while contributing hands-on to coding, architecture, and system design. The position emphasizes collaboration with cross-functional teams, including product management, operations, and design, to deliver secure, scalable, and innovative solutions. You will mentor and empower engineers, implement best practices, and drive adoption of modern tools, frameworks, and methodologies. The role requires balancing technical leadership with strategic planning, while maintaining transparency, efficiency, and alignment with organizational goals. You will also engage with stakeholders to communicate progress, resolve challenges, and enhance customer delivery.
· Lead and manage a team of software engineers across design, development, testing, and deployment activities.
· Provide hands-on contribution to software development using languages such as Java, Python, C++, or TypeScript/Angular, and cloud-native tools including Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
· Ensure adherence to coding standards, version control, code reviews, and documentation practices.
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to prioritize features, enhancements, and system improvements.
· Troubleshoot complex technical issues to maintain stability, performance, and reliability of applications.
· Mentor team members, set SMART goals, and support professional growth through coaching and development plans.
· Implement modern methodologies, tools, and frameworks to improve technical capabilities and efficiency.
Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.
· 5+ years of hands-on software engineering experience and 2+ years in a leadership or managerial role.
· Proficiency in modern programming languages (Java, Python, C++, TypeScript/Angular).
· Experience with containerized, cloud-native services, CI/CD pipelines, Agile, Scrum, and DevOps practices.
· Knowledge of distributed systems, message bus technologies (Kafka, Redis), and relational/NoSQL databases.
· Experience deploying or supporting applications in secure or isolated environments (IL4–IL6 or comparable).
· Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to present to stakeholders.
· Must be a U.S. citizen with an active Secret clearance.
· Preferred: Experience with ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, Hugging Face), MLOps platforms, vector databases, retrieval architectures, and AI integration into applications.
