We are digitizing these markets, and as a result, bringing efficiency, transparency, and access to one of the most productive corners of our financial ecosystem. If you care about making the world a better place by making markets work better through technology – all while contributing as a member of a values-driven organization – we want to hear from you.Â

We also have a physical offices in San Francisco, New York City, and Bangalore for employees who prefer to work in an office some or all of the time.
As an Engineering Manager for our AI Initiatives, you will provide direct leadership to an AI-focused engineering squad and be instrumental in shaping the technical execution of projects that drive Juniper Square's transformation into an AI-first organization. This is an exciting opportunity for an emerging leader who is highly self-driven, possesses a strong product-focused orientation, deep technical expertise, and is passionate about AI. You will embody the "Compound Startup CTO" model, taking end-to-end ownership of 1-2 strategic AI initiatives focused on areas like conversational AI, intelligent document processing, or AI-powered workflow automation.
You will be expected to provide deep technical guidance, actively shape your squad's technical direction, and steer architectural decisions. A critical aspect of this role is your willingness and ability to remain hands-on, stepping in to unblock your team, spearhead prototyping efforts, or contribute directly to complex technical challenges. You'll manage a lean, high-performing AI squad, fostering a culture of rapid iteration, AI-accelerated development, and high output velocity, all while ensuring technical excellence. This role demands a "player-coach" mentality, where you'll leverage your technical depth for "vibe-coding" and direct technical mentorship, empowering your team to deliver innovative, product-centric AI solutions that redefine our offerings and internal operations.
Technical Leadership & Execution: Provide strong technical leadership for one or more AI squads, guiding architectural decisions, driving the execution of AI projects from vision to delivery, and actively contributing hands-on ("vibe-coding") to prototype, unblock complex challenges, and set technical standards.
AI-Native Culture & Velocity: Champion and embed AI-native development practices and tools (e.g., Cursor, Augment) to achieve significant productivity gains, fostering a "startup-mode" culture of rapid iteration, high velocity, and quality, including guiding the effective use of AI code generation.
Strategic Product Partnership: Collaborate closely with Product Management, Design, and other stakeholders to define roadmaps and ensure your squad builds technically sound, impactful AI solutions that address key customer needs.
Operational Rhythm & Impactful Delivery: Drive squad operational excellence through daily "War Rooms" and agile practices, ensuring consistent delivery of working software and demoable outcomes aligned with product goals.
Foundational AI Development: Oversee your squad's contribution to and leverage of Juniper Square's AI Foundation, including reusable components, data pipelines, and core AI technologies.
Team Growth & Development: Recruit, hire, mentor, and develop high-performing engineering talent within your AI squad(s), fostering their technical and professional growth.
Initiative Ownership & Accountability: Act as a technical leader for 1-2 strategic AI initiatives, taking full end-to-end ownership and accountability for their technical success and timely execution.
Cross-Functional Leadership Collaboration: Actively participate in R&D leadership forums (e.g., SLT War Rooms, Product Steering Committees) to represent your squad, align on strategy, and remove roadblocks.
Culture of Transparency & Quality: Promote a culture of building in the open ("demo or it didn't happen") and maintaining high standards for technical quality and product impact.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
5-7+ years of experience demonstrating a trajectory of increasing technical leadership, architectural responsibility, and mentorship.
Proven experience in software engineering with significant hands-on technical contributions, including experience in system design, architecture, and leading technical initiatives.
Strong understanding of and passion for AI/ML technologies, particularly LLMs, NLP, and their application in software products and enterprise solutions. Ability to guide technical discussions and decisions in these areas.
Demonstrable product focus and a keen understanding of how technology can solve customer problems and drive business outcomes.
Highly self-driven, with a proactive approach to leadership, technical problem-solving, and initiative execution.
Experience working in agile development environments and familiarity with practices that promote rapid iteration and velocity.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders and align them on product goals.  Â
A strong "player-coach" mindset, with a proven ability and willingness to be hands-on with code, design, and architecture when necessary to lead by example and unblock your team.
Enthusiasm for adopting and driving the use of AI-native development tools and methodologies (e.g., Cursor, Augment, Lovable.ai).
Ability to manage multiple priorities and lead teams effectively in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
Deep understanding of service-oriented architecture, modern software development practices, and developing scalable, reliable systems.
