In this role, you will balance technical mentorship with project management, transforming business requirements into scalable machine learning solutions. You will be a player-coach who enjoys staying close to the code while helping your team grow, ensuring that our models for pricing, personalization, and fraud detection deliver measurable business impact.</p><h3><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></h3><ul><li><strong>Team Leadership:</strong> Lead and mentor a high-performing team of Data Scientists, providing technical guidance and supporting their professional development.</li><li><strong>Execution & Delivery:</strong> Own the end-to-end lifecycle of ML models—from data exploration and prototyping to deployment and monitoring.</li><li><strong>Cross-Functional Collaboration:</strong> Partner with Product, Engineering, and Business teams to translate complex business problems into actionable data science projects.</li><li><strong>Technical Excellence:</strong> Maintain high standards for code quality, documentation, and model validation; conduct rigorous peer reviews.</li><li><strong>Experimentation:</strong> Lead the design and analysis of A/B tests and experimentation frameworks to measure the impact of new features.</li><li><strong>Scalability:</strong> Work with Data Engineering to ensure our data pipelines and infrastructure support high-velocity model iteration.</li><li><strong>Insights to Action:</strong> Commmunicate technical results to non-technical stakeholders, ensuring data insights drive day-to-day business decisions.</li></ul><h3><strong>What You’ll Bring to Engine</strong></h3><p>We’re looking for someone who’s ready to make an impact and grow alongside us:</p><ul><li><strong>Experience:</strong> 7+ years of experience in Data Science, with at least 1–2 years in a formal or informal leadership role (e.g., Lead Data Scientist or People Manager).</li><li><strong>Technical Mastery:</strong> Deep expertise in machine learning, predictive modeling, and statistical analysis.</li><li><strong>Tech Stack:</strong> Expert-level proficiency in <strong>Python</strong>, <strong>SQL</strong>, and ML frameworks such as <strong>Scikit-Learn</strong>, <strong>TensorFlow</strong>, or <strong>PyTorch</strong>.</li><li><strong>Cloud & Data:</strong> Experience working with large-scale datasets and cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure).</li><li><strong>Industry Knowledge:</strong> Experience in B2B, marketplace, travel, or e-commerce industries is highly preferred.</li><li><strong>Communication:</strong> Proven ability to "bridge the gap" between technical execution and business value.</li><li><strong>Education:</strong> Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in a quantitative field (CS, Stats, Math, Physics) is a plus.</li></ul><p class="p1"><em>Applications for this role will be accepted through 07/01/2026</em><em> or until the role is filled.
