About the Role

Join our dynamic team as a Mid-Level Full-Stack Rails Engineer and help shape the future of Merkle's Promotion and Loyalty Services platforms. You'll be at the center of innovative software projects that drive customer engagement and business growth, working across the entire development lifecycle from concept to deployment.

What You'll Do

Technical Leadership & Development

  • Solve complex business challenges through thoughtful application of technology and streamlined processes
  • Build high-quality, scalable, and maintainable software solutions that can handle enterprise-level traffic
  • Design modern, reliable systems with reusability and long-term sustainability in mind
  • Break down complex technical challenges into manageable, actionable tasks

Documentation & Collaboration

  • Create comprehensive technical specifications, deployment guides, training materials, and system architecture documentation
  • Lead and participate in design reviews and code reviews to maintain high development standards
  • Partner with cross-functional Promotions and Loyalty teams to deliver robust technical solutions
  • Work directly with internal and external clients to translate business needs into technical requirements

Platform Development & Maintenance

  • Enhance and maintain our loyalty platforms while developing new features and custom client solutions
  • Design efficient data models and optimize database queries in MySQL
  • Contribute to best practices development and workflow improvements across the engineering organization

What We're Looking For

Required Experience

  • 2+ years of software engineering experience building enterprise-class web applications
  • Deep expertise in Ruby, Rails, and SQL (MySQL) with a focus on scalable solution development
  • Proficiency with version control systems (Git)
  • Hands-on experience with Agile development methodologies and iterative project management
  • Strong background in automated testing, system integration, database programming, web development, and cloud technologies

Preferred Skills

  • AWS experience (strongly preferred for cloud infrastructure)
  • Additional languages/frameworks: Java/Spring Boot, Node.js
  • Database technologies: Redis experience
  • Frontend development: CSS, JavaScript, and modern UI frameworks
  • Testing expertise: Unit testing, integration testing, and test-driven development practices

The annual salary range for this position is ($68,000 - $110,400 ). Placement within the salary range is based on a variety of factors, including relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and other factors permitted by law.
