Core Responsibilities of the Legal, Audit and Compliance (LAC) Operations Manager:- Attorney Support:
- Provide legal support to the General Counsel related to contracts (reviewing and preparing routine contract instruments such as NDAs, amendments, etc.), corporate governance (e.g., drafting resolutions, agendas, etc.), and corporate filings (e.g., corporate entity formation, qualifications to do business, withdrawals, dissolution, mergers, conversions, legal name changes, annual and other filings, etc.)
- Conduct legal research to support LAC initiatives, including researching regulatory requirements, case law, and compliance obligations, and summarizing findings for internal use.
- Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM):
- Lead the administration, optimization, and ongoing improvement of the contract lifecycle management process, ensuring consistency, visibility, and efficiency across contract intake, review, execution, and post-signature obligations for all types of contracts (client, procurement, NDA, etc.).
- Serve as the primary system administrator for the contract management platform (Ironclad), managing user access, workflows, templates, playbooks, metadata, reporting, and integrations with other enterprise systems (e.g., JIRA, procurement tools).
- Process & Workflow Optimization: Streamline LAC Department’s processes and implement best practices to increase efficiency and reduce friction across the department. Oversee LAC team’s workflows (e.g., inbox routing, incoming requests routing, communicating with stakeholders, etc.)
- Technology & Tools Management: Oversee the selection, implementation, and maintenance of LAC technology platforms, including CLM, e-billing, matter management, and knowledge management tools. Serve as the system admin for various tools. Manage relationships with LAC vendors, including coordinating with external service providers to ensure consistent quality, timely delivery of services, and contractual obligations are met or exceeded. Identify new potential service providers or technology tools that will streamline, scale, and assist team members in their roles and responsibilities.
- Knowledge Management: Develop and maintain internal knowledge bases, templates, and playbooks to support consistent LAC guidance and reduce repetitive work.
- Budgeting and Financial Management: Oversee budgeting for the LAC department, including managing outside counsel billing guidelines, LAC vendor needs, monitoring expenditures to stay within budget, and regular reporting. Supervise the utilization of our legal bill review provider (LegalBillReview.com) to streamline invoice processing and ensure compliance with billing standards.
- Metrics & Reporting: Define and monitor KPIs for legal performance and provide actionable insights through regular reporting to leadership.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as a liaison between LAC and other departments (e.g., sales, procurement, finance, IT, HR) to ensure smooth communication and alignment.
- Project Management: Lead or support corporate and/or LAC department projects/initiatives, including strategic planning efforts, assistance with M&A, etc.
- Supervision:
- Oversee and manage the work of LAC Clerks, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback to ensure accuracy and efficiency in clerical and administrative tasks.
- Assign tasks, monitor progress, and support LAC Clerks in completing routine, administrative duties related to operations, corporate filings, and other assigned tasks.
- Facilitate professional development by identifying skill gaps and providing opportunities for training and growth within the LAC team.
- Leadership: Serve as a key leadership member of the LAC team, contributing to strategic planning, decision-making, and the development of departmental goals.
Educational Requirements- Bachelor’s degree required or significant relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
- Paralegal certification preferred but not required.
Experience- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a legal operations, paralegal, and/or contract management role.
- Experience in corporate governance, contract lifecycle management, and legal operations within a corporate environment.
- Prior experience with budget management, including overseeing outside counsel billing and/or e-billing platforms.
- Demonstrated experience in managing vendors and alternative legal service providers (ALSPs).
- Experience using contract management platforms (e.g., Ironclad) and legal technology tools.
Technical Skills- Advanced skills in contract management systems, preferably Ironclad.
- Proficiency in Google Suite, Slack, and Mac computers.
- Experience with project management tools (e.g., Atlassian/Jira Service Management, Asana, Trello) and reporting tools (e.g., Looker).
- Experience and/or desire to embrace generative AI solutions to streamline and improve processes, enabling the LAC Department to fully support the rapid growth of the TrueML entities.
- Basic understanding of data analysis and reporting metrics.
Legal Skills- Knowledge of corporate governance, contract drafting, and legal research.
- Familiarity with legal research techniques and tools.
- Ability to interpret and summarize laws, regulations and contracts.
Project and Process Management- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proven ability to develop and implement process improvements and optimize workflows; and draft work instructions or standard operating procedures.
- Experience in leading cross-functional projects and collaborating with other departments.
Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills- Strong analytical skills with a keen eye for detail, especially when reviewing contracts and legal documents.
- Capability to synthesize complex legal and financial information and present it clearly.
Interpersonal and Communication Skills- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear, concise, and accurate documents.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with internal stakeholders and external vendors.
- Ability to present legal and operational insights to leadership effectively.

$79,159 - $105,545 a year
Compensation Disclosure: This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience, and other relevant factors.
