The Learning Solutions Manager is at the forefront of managing a flex L&D team to deliver high-quality, client-focused learning solutions. This role requires a strategic approach to aligning learning initiatives with client objectives, managing flex employee performance, and ensuring regulatory compliance. The manager partners with sales and project teams to consult on new business engagements, developing tailored learning strategies that drive measurable success. By cultivating a collaborative, results-oriented environment, the Learning Solutions Manager ensures the seamless execution of learning solutions that meet both business goals and learner needs.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Learning and Development Flex Team Leadership
- Oversee, mentor, support, and inspire a team of flex L&D professionals, including but not limited to instructional designers and content developers.
- Serves as the project leadership to maintain alignment with the outcomes of the client expectations and approved learning solutions.
- Coordinate time off and schedule adjustments for flex employees, ensuring coverage for project deliverables and maintaining clear communication with both the employee and internal teams.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with state and federal labor regulations, including required breaks, rest periods, and work hours for flex employees with data provided from Human Resources.
- Track and manage billable hours for flex employees, ensuring they align with assignment expectations and do not exceed 40 hours per week to prevent overtime.
- Facilitate communication between flex employees and internal teams to ensure alignment on expectations, project goals, and clarity on deliverable timelines.
Guidance and Support
- Conducts regular check-ins with flex employees on staff augmentation assignments to gather feedback on their current engagements, work environment, wins, and challenges, ensuring relevant information is relayed to the relationship manager at agreed upon cadence.
- Perform periodic 1-on-1 meetings with flex employees supporting project-based assignments to address any questions, concerns, or needs related to project deliverables, providing support and guidance as needed.
- Cultivate a culture of high motivation, continuous learning, and excellence.
- Onboards L&D flex employees to client project teams and client environments.
Performance Management
- Set clear expectations and flex employee metrics aligned with departmental and organizational expectations.
- Monitor the performance and engagement of flex employees, ensuring they have the resources and support required to meet assignment objectives.
- Coordinate with the appropriate internal stakeholders to provide insights on flex employee progress, address any engagement issues, and discuss potential adjustments or resource needs.
- Deliver constructive feedback to drive professional growth and improve performance.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Engagement Intakes & New Business Development
- Consults on new engagement Intake requests, including initial scoping along with the Sales team.
- Ensure scoping alignment with client expectations and project requirements.
- Consult and collaborate with Sales team in pursuit of business development opportunities including RFPs and prospective client meetings.
- Tailor L&D solutions based on client engagements, RFPs, and client needs.
Learning Strategy & Needs Assessment
- Assess clients’ goals to develop and implement a comprehensive learning and development strategy that addresses the current and future needs of the clients.
- Identify key areas for development, selecting appropriate learning methodologies, and integrating innovative technologies.
- Oversee or conduct needs assessments and analysis in collaboration with clients and project teams to identify business objectives, learning goals, and performance gaps, informing learning strategies.
- Determine practical ways to drive lasting results that meet the needs of the client’s goals timeline and budget.
- Evaluate and integrate practical and/or cutting-edge learning technologies to enhance learning experiences.
Learning Solution Design
- Oversee or conduct the design, development, and implementation of engaging, relevant, and effective learning solutions that meet established business goals.
- Work with project teams and provides knowledge transfer of project specific and client acumen.
- Ensure adherence to quality standards and best practices in instructional design and adult learning principles.
- Oversee quality check process for project deliverables (instructional integrity).
- Maintain continuity across deliverables and ensuring a seamless and engaging learner experience.
EXPERIENCE + SKILLS
- Demonstrated ability to manage and develop high-performing teams, fostering a collaborative environment, and driving team performance.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively review training materials and ensure they meet quality standards (instructional integrity, client style guidelines and writing standards).
- Demonstrated ability to conducting various types of analysis to determine learning needs and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Knowledgeable of latest trends and merging technologies in learning and development including e-learning platforms, virtual reality (VR), and artificial intelligence (AI).
- Adaptable and proactive, with the ability to respond effectively to changing circumstances while fostering innovative solutions.
- Highly driven with strong follow-through and a focus on owning the outcome.
- 7+ years of experience in a leadership role, preferably in Learning & Development or a similar environment.
- 10+ years of experience in instructional design, with a strong emphasis on conducting needs assessments, gap analysis, and aligning learning solutions with organizational goals and performance outcomes.
- Experience working in a consulting environment or managing client-facing projects is highly desirable.
