MyFitnessPal is looking for a Lead User Researcher to help shape the MyFitnessPal experience through impactful, mixed-methods research. This role will lead efforts across market, user, and product research, using a variety of methodologies (such as surveys, interviews, usability testing, and data analysis) to uncover insights that drive product innovation and improvement. You'll collaborate with product, design, marketing, and engineering teams to advocate for our users and create experiences that align with their needs and our business goals.

We’re looking for someone with expertise in both qualitative and quantitative research who can tackle big-picture strategy while also rolling up their sleeves to execute. Whether it’s exploring new ideas or evaluating existing features, you’ll apply your skills to improve our user experience, guide decisions, and inspire cross-functional teams. A strong candidate will thrive in a dynamic, team-oriented environment and bring exceptional leadership skills to elevate the impact of research across the organization.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Collaborate with product, design, marketing, and engineering teams to develop and execute research plans that align with business priorities and inform product strategy.
  • Lead end-to-end research initiatives—foundational, tactical, and strategic—using a mix of qualitative and quantitative methods such as usability testing, interviews, surveys, and advanced analytics.
  • Deliver actionable insights that strengthen value propositions, identify growth opportunities, and enhance the user experience across multiple teams and product areas.
  • Champion best practices and explore innovative research methodologies to elevate team standards and drive meaningful outcomes.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, balancing stakeholder needs while maintaining focus on high-impact research.
  • Share consumer trends and insights to inspire teams and inform decision-making, positioning yourself as a trusted research leader within the organization.

Qualifications to be successful in this role:

  • 6+ years of experience in user research, including 4+ years partnering directly with product teams on consumer-facing applications.
  • Proficiency with research platforms like Qualtrics and UserTesting, as well as expertise in both qualitative and quantitative research methods.
  • Strong track record of leading strategic research initiatives that drive measurable business outcomes and actionable product recommendations.
  • Deep understanding of UX principles and the ability to translate insights into design and product strategies.
  • Skilled in data visualization and presenting research findings in clear, engaging, and stakeholder-friendly formats.
  • Experience utilizing AI and GPT tools to streamline and innovate research processes.
  • Exceptional communication, organization, and project management skills, with the ability to influence and advocate for the user’s voice across teams.
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally, earning team trust and driving the impact of research on the user experience.

Please consider applying even if you don’t meet 100% of the qualifications. Research shows you can still be considered for a position if you meet some of the requirements. At MyFitnessPal, we’re building a fitness product for everyone and believe our team should reflect that. We encourage people of different backgrounds, experiences, abilities and perspectives to apply.

The reasonably estimated salary for this role at MyFitnessPal ranges from $140,000 - $160,000. Actual compensation is based on factors such as the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience. In addition, MyFitnessPal offers a wide range of comprehensive and inclusive employee benefits for this role including healthcare, parental planning, mental health benefits, annual performance bonus, a 401(k) plan and match, responsible time off, monthly wellness and technology allowances, and others.
