This role is a senior, hands-on engineering position focused on building and evolving enterprise-grade procurement and workflow integration systems. You will design and implement scalable backend solutions that connect procurement, finance, and ERP ecosystems, enabling seamless business operations across complex enterprise environments. Operating in a remote, collaborative setting, you will work closely with cross-functional stakeholders to translate procurement and workflow needs into robust technical architectures. The position requires strong technical leadership, deep integration expertise, and the ability to solve complex system interoperability challenges. You will play a key role in improving automation, data flow, and operational efficiency across mission-critical enterprise platforms. This is an opportunity to shape integration strategy while remaining actively involved in hands-on engineering execution.

Accountabilities

In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise integration solutions that support procurement, intake, and workflow automation across multiple systems. You will ensure seamless connectivity between ERP platforms, procurement tools, and internal business applications while driving reliability, scalability, and performance.

  • Design and implement backend integrations supporting procurement, approval workflows, intake management, and purchasing processes.
  • Develop API-based, event-driven, and middleware-driven architectures to enable system interoperability across enterprise platforms.
  • Collaborate with procurement, finance, product, and technical teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
  • Analyze existing workflows to identify inefficiencies and implement automation and optimization improvements.
  • Ensure accurate data transformation, synchronization, validation, and governance across integrated systems.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, architecture designs, and implementation plans.
  • Provide technical leadership and best practices for integration patterns, backend architecture, and workflow automation.
  • Support troubleshooting, performance optimization, release management, and production stability.

Requirements

This role requires extensive backend engineering experience combined with deep expertise in enterprise integrations, procurement systems, and workflow automation. The ideal candidate is a strong problem solver who can operate independently while collaborating effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience with a strong focus on backend systems and enterprise integrations.
  • Proven experience designing integrations for procurement, ERP, finance, or workflow management systems.
  • Strong expertise in REST APIs, web services, middleware platforms, and system-to-system integrations.
  • Experience with event-driven architecture, asynchronous processing, and modern integration patterns.
  • Solid understanding of procure-to-pay (P2P) processes, procurement lifecycle, and approval workflows.
  • Experience with data transformation, system synchronization, and integration governance.
  • Familiarity with ERP and procurement platforms such as SAP, Oracle, Coupa, or similar systems (preferred).
  • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills in distributed, remote environments.

Benefits

  • Fully remote work (United States)
  • Competitive contract / consulting engagement compensation
  • Opportunity to work on large-scale enterprise procurement and workflow systems
  • Exposure to modern integration architectures and cloud-enabled environments
  • High-impact role influencing core enterprise operational efficiency
  • Collaborative, cross-functional engineering environment
  • Flexibility and autonomy typical of senior consulting engagements
  • Opportunity to work with complex ERP and procurement ecosystems
