JOB DESCRIPTION

Green Dot Corporation is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to join the Rapid Team, driving the development of scalable, secure, and resilient systems that support real-time payment processing and embedded financial services. This role will lead technical initiatives across backend services, CI/CD automation, and system integrations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Architect and develop backend services and APIs for payment workflows, partner integrations, and transaction processing.
• Lead initiatives to improve system scalability, fault tolerance, and throughput for Rapid Paycard operations.
• Collaborate with InfoSec, DevOps, QA, and Product teams to ensure secure and compliant implementations.
• Implement observability and monitoring solutions to ensure SLA adherence and rapid incident response.
• Drive automation across CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure provisioning.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote engineering best practices across the Rapid domain.
• Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions and contribute to roadmap planning.

Qualifications:

• Experience: 7+ years in software engineering, with 2+ years in a technical leadership role.
• Languages & Frameworks: Proficiency in Java, Kotlin, or Go; experience with Spring Boot or similar frameworks.
• Architecture: Strong understanding of RESTful API design, OAuth2, and microservices.
• Cloud & Infrastructure: Experience with AWS (preferred), Kubernetes, and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform).
• DevOps & CI/CD: Familiarity with Jenkins, GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, and release automation tools.
• Payments Expertise: Knowledge of payment gateways, ACH, card networks, and transaction protocols.
• Monitoring Tools: Experience with Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana for observability and alerting.

PAY RANGE

The targeted base salary for this position is $139,900 to $199,300 per year. The final compensation will be determined by a number of factors such as qualifications, expertise, and the candidate’s geographical location.
